Inleiding
TOREN met luidklok (1658) op oud kerkhof, omringd door knotwilgen en een gracht. De toren is volgens een gevelsteen in 1872 gebouwd in opdracht van de Hervormde Gemeente van Westerdijkshorn. Eerder stond op deze plek een kerk die in 1802 is afgebroken en de bijbehorende toren viel in 1872 onder de slopershamer. De huidige, in Eclectische trant opgetrokken toren kwam hiervoor in de plaats. Naast de toren, aan de zuidkant, staat een boerderij die vroeger als weem in gebruik was en een eindje verderop ten noorden ervan staat het voormalige diaconiehuis.
Tijdens de tweede Wereldoorlog werd de klok uit 1658 door de bezetters uit de toren gehaald, maar in 1946 kon hij weer op zijn oude plek worden teruggehangen. In 1902 is de toren gerestaureerd door de gebr. P. en J. Heemstra en in 1936, na blikseminslag, is hij hersteld door timmerman J. Heemstra, tevens hoofdcommandant van de Bedumer brandweer. De laatste restauratie vond plaats in 1976 door architectenbureau Van Wissen uit Groningen. Toren en kerkhof zijn sinds 1975 eigendom van de gemeente Bedum.
Omschrijving
Toren op vierkante basis, met in blokken gepleisterde onderbouw op een gepleisterde plint, met op de hoeken gepleisterde steunberen. Op de verdieping, aan alle vier zijden een spitsboogvlak van roodbruin metselwerk binnen een gepleisterde omlijsting met fronton, waarop een zinken vaas. De toren wordt bekroond door een achtkantige houten dakruiter met zinken koepeldak met bovenop een windwijzer met paard, belegd met bladgoud.
De entree tot de toren bevindt zich aan de westzijde en bestaat uit een dubbele houten paneeldeur met een spitsboogvormig bovenlicht, gevuld met decoratief houtwerk waarin twee spitsboogruiten zijn uitgespaard met een gietijzeren raampaneel ervoor. Boven de entree een gevelsteen waarop staat: Hervormde gemeente van Westerdijkshorn, 1872, Kerkvoogden: R.P. Haverkamp, J.P. Wigboldus, H. Klugkist Hzn., Notabelen: P.J. Bakker, J. Bruinius, W. Jonker.
In de gemetselde vlakken, aan alle vier zijden, een ijzeren boogvenster met gotische tracering en er boven een galmgat met houten galmborden, beide onder een rondboog. Boven het galmgat in de westgevel bevindt zich een ronde wijzerplaat van bladgoud (een kopie van de oorspronkelijke). De dakruiter heeft spitsboogvormige openingen die worden verbonden door houten hekjes met kruislings geplaatste stijlen.
In het INTERIEUR zijn van belang: in de klokkestoel een klok uit 1658 vervaardigd door W.J. de Vrij en het elektrisch aangedreven ijzeren uurwerk.

Introduction
TOWER with bell clock (1658) on an old churchyard, surrounded by pollard willows and a canal. According to a facade stone, the tower was built in 1872 on the commission of the Reformed Church Community of Westerdijkshorn. Previously a church stood on this site which was demolished in 1802, and its associated tower fell to the wrecker's hammer in 1872. The present tower, built in Eclectic style, was erected in its place. Next to the tower, on the south side, stands a farmhouse that was formerly used as a weem, and some distance further to the north of it stands the former deaconry house.
During the Second World War, the bell clock from 1658 was removed from the tower by the occupiers, but in 1946 it could be rehung in its original place. In 1902 the tower was restored by the brothers P. and J. Heemstra, and in 1936, following a lightning strike, it was repaired by carpenter J. Heemstra, also chief commander of Bedum fire brigade. The most recent restoration took place in 1976 by architects' office Van Wissen from Groningen. Tower and churchyard have been the property of Bedum municipality since 1975.
Description
Tower on a square base, with understorey rendered in blocks on a rendered plinth, with rendered buttresses at the corners. On the storey, on all four sides a pointed arch panel of reddish-brown brickwork within a rendered frame with pediment, on which a zinc urn. The tower is crowned by an octagonal wooden bell turret with a zinc domed roof, topped with a weather vane of a horse, covered with gold leaf.
The entrance to the tower is situated on the west side and consists of a double wooden panelled door with a pointed arch fanlight, filled with decorative woodwork in which two pointed arch panes are cut out with a cast iron window panel in front. Above the entrance a facade stone on which is written: Reformed Church Community of Westerdijkshorn, 1872, Church Wardens: R.P. Haverkamp, J.P. Wigboldus, H. Klugkist Hzn., Notables: P.J. Bakker, J. Bruinius, W. Jonker.
In the masoned panels, on all four sides, an iron arched window with Gothic tracery and above it a sound hole with wooden sound boards, both under a round arch. Above the sound hole in the west gable is a round dial of gold leaf (a copy of the original). The bell turret has pointed arch openings which are connected by wooden railings with cross-positioned stiles.
In the INTERIOR the following are noteworthy: in the bell chamber a bell from 1658 made by W.J. de Vrij and the electrically driven iron clock mechanism.
