Inleiding
OMGRACHTE RONDE GRAFHEUVEL met GRAFKELDER van de familie Bienema. De familie Bienema liet in 1763, ongeveer ter plaatse van een voormalige boerderij, de buitenplaats Veenwijk bouwen. Het landgoed werd geleidelijk uitgebreid door grondaankopen aan de oostelijke zijde. Aan de noordzijde van deze uitbreiding werd tussen 1807-1810 een omgrachte, ronde grafheuvel gesticht door Epke Roos van Bienema en zijn vrouw Sara Susanna Bergsma. In de gehele aanleg van het wandelbos vormt de grafheuvel een solitair, romantisch element, met twee hulstbomen bij de toegang.
Omschrijving
De grond uit de gegraven cirkelvormige gracht is gebruikt om een gemetselde grafkelder te bedekken, zodat de grafheuvel ontstond. Het familiegraf van de Bienema's bestaat uit een gemetselde gewelfconstructie. De toegang tot de grafkelder wordt afgedekt door een onversierde rechthoekige sluitsteen opgelegd op diagonaal opgemetselde muurdammen. De toegang wordt geflankeerd door twee hulstbomen.
Waardering
De omgrachte ronde grafheuvel met grafkelder van de familie Bienema uit ca 1807-1810 is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang:
- als bijzonder object in de typologische en functionele ontwikkeling van de grafkelder, dat tot de vroegste van dergelijke particuliere grafkelders in Friesland behoort en vermoedelijk als voorbeeld heeft gediend van een dergelijke grafkelder op de begraafplaats van Brongerga,

SURROUNDED ROUND BURIAL MOUND with BURIAL VAULT of the Bienema family. The Bienema family had the country estate Veenwijk built in 1763, approximately at the location of a former farmhouse. The estate was gradually enlarged by land purchases on the eastern side. On the north side of this expansion, between 1807-1810 a surrounded, round burial mound was established by Epke Roos van Bienema and his wife Sara Susanna Bergsma. In the entire layout of the walking wood, the burial mound forms a solitary, romantic element, with two holly trees at the entrance.
Description
The soil from the excavated circular moat was used to cover a masonry burial vault, thus creating the burial mound. The family grave of the Bienema's consists of a masonry vault construction. Access to the burial vault is closed off by an undecorated rectangular closing stone laid on diagonally masoned wall dams. The entrance is flanked by two holly trees.

The surrounded round burial mound with burial vault of the Bienema family from ca 1807-1810 is of general cultural-historical importance:
