Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
FARMHOUSE of the head-body type possibly from the fourth quarter of the 19th century, situated on the west side of the Schoolstraat south of the Dutch Reformed Church. In 1922 a rear extension was built which was lengthened in 1972. On the east side (street side) the farmyard is separated from the Schoolstraat by a GATE.
Description
The partly cellared farmhouse stands on an east-west oriented ground plan, consisting of a square and a rectangular section. On the square ground plan (E) is the dwelling house and in the rectangular building body (W) is the business section. Both the rectangular and square building bodies, which have unequal roof heights, consist of a ground floor and a roof storey. The two building sections are separated from each other by a party wall. The dwelling house is placed under a shallow-sloping gabled roof. The business section is placed under a hipped roof that at the northwest corner, above the rear extension, transitions into a hipped roof of smaller dimensions. The various roofs are all covered with black Dutch tiles. The roof of the dwelling house is provided on the front with carved wind braces. The roof of the hipped roof above the business section is supported by a wooden square frame construction. The construction consisting of six posts, a double square, is executed with slender posts. At the top the posts transition into a tie-beam frame. The farmhouse is constructed of red brick and wooden wall studs. The dwelling house has a cemented plinth. Both at the junction between ground floor and storey and at the height of the window frames are to be found on all three facades of the dwelling house a string course. On the east, south and north sides of the farmhouse the edges of the wall anchors are visible. The window openings of the dwelling house are virtually all arched and fitted with sash windows with a T-profile.
The front (E) of the dwelling house is divided vertically and horizontally by built-in bands. The front has five window bays. The middle axis has a double panelled door and the flanking axes have T-windows. Windows and fanlight of door are arched at the top. The door is a so-called "blind door", which provides no access to a space behind but is placed solely for the sake of symmetry. On the storey in the middle of the facade is a horizontal window with altered frame pattern. To the left and right of this window is a medallion executed in brick. Also, on each side of the window is an ornamental stone-header visible. Along the roof edge is a frieze executed in brick.
The left facade (S) of the dwelling house has on the right an arched sash window. The rest of the facade is blank except for the door opening on the left side. The door opening has a panelled door with glass panel and fanlight. The facade is closed at the top with a plain frieze and gutter line on corbels. Subsequently the facade of the business section steps out to the left of the door opening.
In the stepped-out facade of the business section is a round window with iron glazing bars. Three such windows are also to be found in the party wall (E) above the gabled roof of the dwelling house. The south side of the business section has a panelled door with fanlight in the middle. To the left and right of this are two arched stable windows with rich glazing bars in cast iron. The two windows on the right are placed between two buttresses.
The rear (W) has on the right the threshing door which cuts through the roof line. The rear extension to the left of it has four iron stable windows on the south side and a clamped door, flanked by round iron windows - on the west gable end.
The gate on the street side is of iron and consists of narrow pointed square posts with round pointed gate-work between them.
Valuation
The head-body farmhouse with attached gate is of general importance from an architectural and cultural-historical point of view as an example of a virtually well-preserved 19th-century farmhouse in the countryside. The farmhouse has ensemble value due to its location near the Dutch Reformed Church.
