Ten zuidwesten van werk VIII gesitueerd MACHINEGEBOUW D. Het machinegebouw betreft een aangeaard, vrijwel rechthoekig werk. De toegang wordt verkregen met een trap via een portaal, met daar achter de machinekamer. In de machinekamer stond een gelijkstroom-compound-dynamo opgesteld, welke werd aangedreven door een Kromhout-Gardner dieselmotor van 12 PK. Deze installatie leverde electriciteit voor verlichting en verwarming van de verdedigingswerken.
De buitenwanddikte en de bovendekking van het machinegebouw bedraagt 1.50 m. Het gebouw meet een grootste lengte van 5.20 m en een breedte van 3.50 m.
Waardering
Het machinegebouw D is als belangwekkend historisch-functioneel onderdeel van de Stelling bij Den Oever van algemeen belang.

Situated to the southwest of work VIII is MACHINE BUILDING D. The machine building is an earthed, virtually rectangular structure. Access is gained by a staircase via a portico, behind which lies the machine room. In the machine room a direct-current compound dynamo was installed, which was driven by a Kromhout-Gardner diesel engine of 12 HP. This installation supplied electricity for lighting and heating of the defensive works.
The external wall thickness and upper covering of the machine building measures 1.50 m. The building has a maximum length of 5.20 m and a width of 3.50 m.
Valuation
Machine building D is as an important historico-functional component of the Stelling bij Den Oever of general significance.
