Omschrijving
HOOFDGEBOUW (Empe). Het witgepleisterde huis is vanaf de 16de eeuw in verschillende bouwfasen tot stand gekomen. Het pand is gebouwd op verspringende plattegrond onder een deels met rode, deels met gesmoorde Oud-Hollandse pannen gedekt zadeldak. In 1986 werd het huis tot vier zelfstandige wooneenheden verbouwd. Het meest oostelijke deel van het huis wordt gevormd door het 17de-eeuwse huis, dat in ca.1825 in classicistische stijl is verbouwd tot een rechthoekig bouwblok van vijf traveeën breed met lijstgevels. De symmetrisch ingedeelde gevel, bestaande uit een souterrain en twee bouwlagen, heeft meerruitsvensters met halfrond getraceerde bovenlichten op de begane grond en zesruits schuifvensters op de verdieping. Centraal is het hardstenen bordes met dubbele trap waarlangs een smeedijzeren balustrade, die leidt naar de toegangsdeur met meerruits bovenlicht gevat in een eenvoudige omlijsting. In de dakgevel een dakkapel. In 1850 is het huis met twee gelijkvormige traveeën uitgebreid, wat te zien is in de iets terugspringende gevel. Tegen de zuidgevel staat een korte vleugel met serre uit 1893. Toen zijn ook lichtopeningen in de zuidgevel van het souterrain gemaakt. De westvleugel, bestaande uit een souterrain en drie bouwlagen, heeft een onregelmatige gevelindeling met gekoppelde meerruitsvensters. De achtkantige toren heeft aan drie zijden langwerpige staande vensters en wordt bekroond door een ingesnoerde met leien gedekte spits. Onder leiding van de architecten G.C.Bremer en S. de Clercq uit Den Haag is in 1930 het huis gerestaureerd, waarbij vooral de west- en zuidgevel zijn gemoderniseerd (grote raampartijen). Het INTERIEUR is door de vele verbouwingen niet meer in oorspronkelijke staat. Van belang zijn de twee kelders met twee segmentvormige tongewelven uit het midden van de 16de eeuw en een kelder met twee kruisgewelven uit de 17de eeuw.

MAIN BUILDING (Empe). The whitewashed house was built in various construction phases from the 16th century onwards. The building is constructed on a staggered footprint under a gabled roof covered partly with red and partly with smoored Old Dutch tiles. In 1986 the house was converted into four independent dwelling units. The easternmost part of the house is formed by the 17th-century house, which around 1825 was rebuilt in classical style as a rectangular block of five bays wide with cornice-topped facades. The symmetrically arranged facade, consisting of a basement and two storeys, has multi-paned windows with semicircular tracery fanlights on the ground floor and six-paned sash windows on the upper floor. Centrally positioned is the hardstone perron with double staircase flanked by a wrought-iron balustrade, leading to the entrance door with multi-paned fanlight set in a simple frame. In the roof facade is a dormer window. In 1850 the house was enlarged by two similar bays, visible in the slightly recessed facade. Against the south facade stands a short wing with conservatory from 1893. At that time light openings were also made in the south facade of the basement. The building volume of the house was doubled in 1906 by the addition of a west wing with a tower (north). The west wing, consisting of a basement and three storeys, has an irregular facade arrangement with coupled multi-paned windows. The octagonal tower has on three sides elongated vertical windows and is crowned by a cinched spire covered with slate. Under the direction of architects G.C. Bremer and S. de Clercq from Den Haag, the house was restored in 1930, with particular modernization of the west and south facades (large window panels). The INTERIOR is no longer in original condition due to the numerous alterations. Of importance are the two cellars with two segmental barrel vaults from the mid-16th century and a cellar with two cross vaults from the 17th century.
