Omschrijving
KASTEEL op -eertijds- omgracht opgehoogd terrein, bestaande uit een haakvormig woongedeelte in het zuidoosten, waarop een ringmuur aansluit met twee (oorspronkelijk vier) rond uitgebouwde hoektorens, midden XIII-XV e.v.; gewijzigd XVIII en XIX. Gerestaureerd in 1954-1957 na de brand van 1948. Het complex omsluit een min of meer eivormige binnenplaats; in de lange zuidvleugel, XIV, de grote zaal, die twee verdiepingen omvat; in de oostvleugel de inrijpoort met hardstenen omlijsting, XV; iets zuidelijker in de oostgevel is de oorspronkelijke ingang herkenbaar (XIII). Onderste deel van ringmuur in baksteen, daarboven mergel; de onderste rij spaarbogen zijn rond het midden van de 19e eeuw geopend en voorzien van neogotische balustrades in zandsteen; daken alle gedekt met grijze leisteen. Van de zuidwestelijke toren resteren de funderingen en een klein deel opgaand werk. Meerruitsvensters.

CASTLE on -formerly- embanked encircled terrain, consisting of an L-shaped residential component in the south-east, to which a curtain wall adjoins with two (originally four) rounded corner towers, mid 13th-15th century and later; altered 18th and 19th century. Restored in 1954-1957 after the fire of 1948. The complex encloses a more or less egg-shaped courtyard; in the long south wing, 14th century, the great hall, which comprises two storeys; in the east wing the carriage entrance with sandstone surround, 15th century; slightly further south in the east elevation the original entrance is recognisable (13th century). Lower part of curtain wall in brick, above it marl; the lower row of relieving arches were opened around the middle of the 19th century and provided with neo-Gothic balustrades in sandstone; roofs all covered with grey slate. Of the south-western tower the foundations remain and a small part of the standing structure. Multi-pane windows.
