Inleiding
WOONHUIS ontworpen door architect G.B. Broekema in Art Nouveau bouwstijl en gebouwd in de periode 1898-1899 in opdracht van de Zwolse Bouwmaatschappij. Het huis staat in een gesloten gevelwand met ander minder gave Art Nouveau panden in de Van Nagellstraat. Van het interieur van het huis zijn onder meer de tegels in de hal, stucplafonds en een trapleuning bewaard gebleven.
Omschrijving
Het woonhuis is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond over een souterrain en twee bouwlagen onder een afgeknot schilddak met rode bouletpannen pannen. De gevels zijn gemetseld in rode verblendsteen met speklagen, siermetselwerk van gele verblendsteen in de bogen, reliëfs met florale motieven in zandsteen en andere ornamenten in hardsteen.
De gevel is in tweeën gedeeld. Het linker deel van de gevel risaleert, is over drie lagen opgetrokken en wordt door een tentdak met koper afgesloten, waardoor het een torenachtig karakter heeft. Op de begane grond is de ingangsportiek onder een rondboog geplaatst. De rondboog steunt op twee bolle zuiltjes met gestileerde kapitelen. Zowel de archivolt als de kapitelen zijn voorzien van bladreliëfs. Boven twee hardstenen treden bevindt zich een paneeldeur met ruiten en sierijzers. Boven de portiek reliëfs met onder andere het jaartal, een waterlijst en een rondboogvenster. Op de tweede verdieping een rechtgesloten venster met een Frans balkon, waarboven een open segmentboogfries.
Het rechter deel van de gevel wordt op de begane grond in beslag genomen door een driedelig rechtgesloten venster met bovenlichten waarin glas-in-lood met gestileerde florale motieven. Op de verdieping een ondiepe loggia achter een balkon op consoles met een opengewerkte zandstenen balustrade.
Waardering
Het woonhuis is van algemeen architectuurhistorisch belang:

The house stands in a closed facade wall with other less well-preserved Art Nouveau properties in the Van Nagellstraat. From the interior of the house, among other things the tiles in the hall, stucco ceilings and a handrail have been preserved.
Description
The residential house is constructed on a rectangular ground plan over a basement and two storeys under a truncated hipped roof with red boulet tiles. The facades are laid in red facing brick with courses, decorative brickwork of yellow facing brick in the arches, reliefs with floral motifs in sandstone and other ornaments in hardstone.
The facade is divided into two. The left part of the facade projects, is built over three storeys and is crowned by a tent roof with copper, giving it a tower-like character. On the ground floor the entrance porch is placed under a round arch. The round arch is supported by two bulging columns with stylized capitals. Both the archivolt and the capitals are provided with leaf reliefs. Above two hardstone steps is a panelled door with panes and decorative ironwork. Above the porch reliefs with among other things the year, a drip moulding and a round-arched window. On the second floor a right-angled window with a French balcony, above which an open segmental-arched frieze.
The right part of the facade is occupied on the ground floor by a three-part right-angled window with fanlights containing leaded glass with stylized floral motifs. On the upper floor a shallow loggia behind a balcony on consoles with an openwork sandstone balustrade.
