Omstreeks 1920 vervaardigde rood BAKSTENEN SOKKEL met natuurstenen dekplaat, staande op een brede, dubbel ronde rood bakstenen voet, waarvan de beide delen zijn voorzien van natuurstenen dekplaten. Op de sokkel stond oorspronkelijk het -thans (1996) zwaar beschadigde beeld 'Discobolus', dat in 1920 in een zandsteenkleurig 'cement fondu' werd afgegoten van de 'Discobolus' uit de Museo Vaticano door Auguste Gerber van Koln in opdracht van W.E. Gatacre. De 'Discobolus' werd geplaatst aan het noordeinde van het brede pad om de dramatische en visuele beleving van dit doorzicht te benadrukken. Een nieuw afgietsel van hetzelfde beeld, gegoten door Les Ateliers du Louvre, vervangt sedert 1993 het oorspronkelijke, onherstelbare beschadigde beeld. Wegens te geringe ouderdom komt het nieuwe beeld niet voor bescherming van rijkswege in aanmerking.

Description
A red BRICK PLINTH with natural stone coping plate, made around 1920, standing on a broad, double-rounded red brick foot, both parts of which are provided with natural stone coping plates. On the plinth originally stood the -currently (1996) severely damaged statue 'Discobolus', which in 1920 was cast in a sand-stone-coloured 'cement fondu' of the 'Discobolus' from the Museo Vaticano by Auguste Gerber of Cologne on the commission of W.E. Gatacre. The 'Discobolus' was placed at the north end of the broad path to emphasize the dramatic and visual experience of this vista. A new cast of the same statue, cast by Les Ateliers du Louvre, has replaced since 1993 the original, irreparably damaged statue. Due to insufficient age, the new statue does not qualify for protection at national level.
