Omstreeks 1921 vervaardigde SOKKEL van kunststeen, waarop oorspronkelijk een afgietsel stond van 'Diane de Gabies' (ook wel Diana genoemd) uit het Louvre in Parijs, dat in 1920 werd afgegoten door Auguste Gerber van Koln in een zandkleurig 'cement fondu', in opdracht van W.E. Gatacre. De sokkel en het beeld dienden als afsluiting van het lange pad achter het huis. Thans (1996) staat op de sokkel het laat-17de-eeuwse tuinbeeld FORTITUDO -'La Force'- dat, afkomstig van de Parkstraat in 's-Gravenhage, vanaf 1921 in opslag heeft gestaan. Het restant van de gesneuvelde 'Diane de Gabies' ligt tussen de rododendrons.

Description
A PLINTH of artificial stone made around 1921, on which originally stood a cast of 'Diane de Gabies' (also called Diana) from the Louvre in Paris, which was cast in 1920 by Auguste Gerber of Cologne in a sand-coloured 'cement fondu', on the commission of W.E. Gatacre. The plinth and the statue served as the termination of the long path behind the house. Currently (1996) standing on the plinth is the late-17th-century garden statue FORTITUDO -'La Force'-, which, originating from Parkstraat in 's-Gravenhage, has been in storage since 1921. The remains of the damaged 'Diane de Gabies' lie among the rhododendrons.
