Inleiding
Voormalige GESCHUTOPSTELLING MET MUNITIEDEPOT, munitielift en afwachtingsruimte voor manschappen, deel uitmakend van de in 1938-1939 gebouwde Batterij Den Hoorn op Texel.
Het gebouw is gelegen in het natuurgebied De Bollekamer, juist voor de binnenste duinrij. Het gebouw is identiek aan twee andere geschutopstellingen; de drie gebouwen liggen op ongeveer 75 m afstand van elkaar en in elkaars verlengde. De gebouwen bevinden zich grotendeels onder het duinzand.
Omschrijving
Gebouw op rechthoekig grondplan, uitgevoerd in gewapend beton. Het gebouw meet als grootste lengte 9.90 m, breedte 8.20 m en hoogte (inclusief funderingsplaat en exclusief opbouw munitieschacht) 4.90 m. Het gebouw heeft een wanddikte van 1.00 m.
De bovendekking bestaat uit een plaat van 2.00 m gewapend beton. Op de bovendekking was aan de frontzijde (west) oorspronkelijk een 15L35 kanon gemonteerd voor het geven van indirect vuur naar zeedoelen. Op het oostelijk deel van de bovendekking bevinden zich de ingangen tot het gebouw, een klimkoker en een liftschacht voor munitie die ongeveer 1.50 m boven de bovendekking uitsteekt. Door de liftschacht is tevens een spreekbuisverbinding aangebracht.
De zijmuren (N,O,Z en W) zijn blind.
In het interieur bevinden zich twee grotere ruimtes, één voor munitie-opslag en één logieslokaal, en vier kleine ruimtes: de klimkoker, de liftschacht, de ruimte bij de liftschacht (liftlokaal) en een buizenbergplaats.
Waardering
De geschutopstelling met munitiedepot is van algemeen belang wegens militair- en architectuurhistorische waarde als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het militaire verdedigingswerk "Batterij Den Hoorn" en als voorbeeld van een zware gewapend betonconstructie uit de laatste fase van de permanente versterkingsbouw in Nederland.

Former GUN EMPLACEMENT WITH MUNITIONS DEPOT, munitions lift and waiting room for personnel, forming part of the "Batterij Den Hoorn" built on Texel in 1938-1939.
The building is located in the nature reserve De Bollekamer, just in front of the inner dune row. The building is identical to two other gun emplacements; the three buildings are situated approximately 75 m apart from each other and in line with each other. The buildings are located largely beneath the dune sand.
Description
Building of rectangular plan, executed in reinforced concrete. The building measures a greatest length of 9.90 m, width of 8.20 m and height (including foundation slab and excluding munitions shaft superstructure) of 4.90 m. The building has a wall thickness of 1.00 m.
The top covering consists of a slab of 2.00 m reinforced concrete. On the top covering, a 15L35 cannon was originally mounted on the front side (west) for indirect fire towards sea targets. On the eastern part of the top covering are the entrances to the building, a climbing shaft and a lift shaft for munitions which projects approximately 1.50 m above the top covering. A speaking tube connection has also been installed through the lift shaft.
