Inleiding
Voormalige COMMANDOPOST, deel uitmakend van de in 1938-1939 gebouwde "Batterij Den Hoorn" op Texel. De commandopost vormde de centrale vuurleiding van de kustbatterij. De resultaten van de metingen werden aldaar gecoördineerd tot een bevel voor drie geschuteenheden.
Omschrijving
Commandopost, uitgevoerd in gewapend beton, op zeshoekig grondplan (een oost-westgerichte rechthoek met twee afgeschuinde hoeken aan de oostzijde). Het gebouw meet een grootste lengte van 10.65 meter breedte van 8.00 meter en hoogte van 3.55 meter (inclusief funderingsplaat). De bovendekking bestaat uit een plaat gewapend beton ter dikte van 0.80 meter.
De ingang bevindt zich aan de oostzijde. Deze ingang geeft toegang tot een L-vormige gang, die aansluiting geeft op links twee ruimtes en rechts één ruimte ten behoeve van onder andere telefooncentrale en waarnemingstoestel. In het verlengde van de gang bevindt zich de observatieruimte met rondom een kijksleuf voor de vuurleiding. In de observatieruimte stond oorspronkelijk een grote afstandmeter met kijkerbasis opgesteld, en konden telefonisch berichten worden ontvangen en doorgegeven.
Aan de frontzijde (west) heeft het gebouw een wanddikte van 1.00 meter.
De overige wanden (noord, zuid, oost) hebben een dikte van 0.75 meter. De noord- en zuidzijde van het gebouw zijn blind.
Waardering
De commandopost is van algemeen belang uit militair- en architectuurhistorisch oogpunt als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het militaire verdedigingswerk "Batterij Den Hoorn" en als voorbeeld van een zware gewapend betonconstructie uit de laatste fase van de permanente versterkingsbouw in Nederland.

The top covering consists of a reinforced concrete slab with a thickness of 0.80 metres.
The entrance is situated on the east side. This entrance provides access to an L-shaped corridor, which connects to two spaces on the left and one space on the right for among other things telephone exchange and observation device. In the extension of the corridor is the observation room with an observation slit all around for fire control. In the observation room a large rangefinder with a telescope base was originally positioned, and telephone messages could be received and passed on.
