Inleiding:
Landhuis "Wilbertsoord", of in de volksmond "de Princepeel" uit 1871 in Eclectische stijl gebouwd door de familie Nering-Bögel van Hoytema. Tussen 1864 en 1879 waren zij de eerste pioniers van de landbouwontginning de Princepeel. De familie bouwde tevens een zestal boerderijen en een zevental arbeidershuizen verspreid over de gemeente. In 1879 wordt de N.V. Landbouwonderneming "de Princepeel" opgericht. De legendarische groot-ontginner Dominicus Hubertus van Ophoven heeft van 1888 tot 1908 in het huis gewoond.
Omschrijving:
Tweelaags symmetrisch landhuis met souterrain onder afgeplat schilddak gedekt met natuursteen leien. Het gepleisterde blokvormige huis heeft een vierkante plattegrond met afgeschuinde hoeken. Aan de voor- of zuidzijde een monumentale ingangspartij in portiek op de bel-etage met zwierige hardstenen trap en bordes. Aan de achterzijde een uitgebouwd balkon gedragen door vier ronde kolommen met daaronder een waranda met de dienstingang. Aan de westzijde van het huis een vroeg twintigste eeuwse uitbreiding van het souterrain met balkon op de beletage. Het huis is gepleisterd in blokverband met lisenen, cordonlijst, plint en kroonlijst met fries. Getoogde muuropeningen voorzien van T-vensters op de bel-etage en zesruitsvensters op de verdieping. De vensters hebben aan de binnenkant vouwblinden. In een nis in de westmuur, die ondersteund wordt door een mans- en vrouwskopje een in reliëf uitgevoerd gietijzeren harnas met flankerende familiewapens. Het huis heeft een authentiek interieur met o.a. rijk bewerkte stucplafonds, natuurstenen hal en gangvloeren, vier marmeren schoorsteenmantels, twee voorzien van geelkoperen vulhaarden,een monumentale bordestrap in de gang en een staande spiegel,toilet met marmeren wastafel, keuken met getegelde schouw en etenslift. Op het erf een theehuisje onder pagode-achtig dakje. In de parkachtige tuin, met kenmerken van de Engelse landschapstuin vele bomen uit de bouwtijd. Met onder meer acacia's, eiken en platanen van ca. 150 cm omtrek. Diverse zichtassen in de tuin geven de relatie weer met de rondomliggende Princepeel.
Waardering:
Het landhuis is van algemeen belang vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als uitdrukking van de eerste ontginningsactiviteiten in de Brabantse Peel door Dominicus van Ophoven. Het heeft architectonische waarden als voorbeeld van een landhuis in Eclectische stijl. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven en is een zeldzaam voorbeeld van een dergelijk landhuis als kern van een jongere ontginning.

Description:
Two-storey symmetrical country house with basement beneath a hipped roof covered with natural slate stone. The rendered block-shaped house has a square floor plan with bevelled corners. On the front or south side a monumental entrance with portico on the piano nobile with elegant freestone staircase and platform. On the rear side an extended balcony supported by four round columns with beneath it a veranda with the service entrance. On the west side of the house an early twentieth century extension of the basement with balcony on the piano nobile. The house is rendered in block bond with pilaster strips, cordon moulding, plinth and cornice with frieze. Arched wall openings provided with T-windows on the piano nobile and six-pane windows on the upper storey. The windows have folding shutters on the inside. In a niche in the west wall, supported by a male and female head, a cast iron harness executed in relief with flanking family coats of arms. The house has an authentic interior with among others richly worked stucco ceilings, natural stone hall and corridor flooring, four marble chimneypieces, two provided with brass-coloured filling grates, a monumental staircase in the corridor and a standing mirror, toilet with marble wash basin, kitchen with tiled chimney breast and food lift. On the estate a tea house under a pagoda-like roof. In the park-like garden, with characteristics of the English landscape garden many trees from the period of construction. Including among others acacias, oaks and plane trees of approximately 150 cm circumference. Various sight lines in the garden show the relationship with the surrounding Princepeel.
Appreciation:
The country house is of general importance because of cultural-historical values as an expression of the first reclamation activities in the Brabant Peel by Dominicus van Ophoven. It has architectural values as an example of a country house in Eclectic style. It has been preserved intact and is a rare example of such a country house as the nucleus of a younger reclamation.
