Inleiding
Naai- en breiSCHOOL in 1873 gebouwd met koninklijke goedkeuring, op initiatief van ingezetenen van Diepenveen vanuit de toneelvereniging 'Tot Nut en Genoegen'. Het éénklassige dorpsschooltje met woonruimte voor de docente is gebouwd aan de rand van de toenmalige dorpskern, naast de brug over de Soestwetering. In het pand is nu een studio gevestigd.
Omschrijving
Schooltje opgetrokken in baksteen vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond onder een met pannen gedekt schilddak met een eenvoudige bakgoot. De gestucte entreepartij (O) risaleert, is hoger opgetrokken en heeft een aangekapt zadeldak met windveren. De entree bestaat uit twee gekoppelde deuren elk met getoogd bovenlicht onder gestucte profiellijst. In de geveltop een getoogd raam onder profiellijst en aan weerszijden van de risaliet dubbele, getoogde zesruitsvensters onder een gestucte profiellijst en onder de dakrand een gestucte lijst met eenvoudig boogfries. In elk van de zijgevels twee rechtgesloten zesruits vensters. In de achtergevel een deur en een raam, rechts daarvan de oorspronkelijke, uitgebouwde w.c. later vergroot tot berging. Hierbij is een oorspronkelijk venster in de achtergevel dichtgemetseld. Ook de houten aanbouw tegen de achtergevel is van later datum. Deze aanbouw staat tegen een oorspronkelijk dicht gevelvlak.
InterieurHet interieur is sober, maar gaaf qua indeling en detailleringen. De dubbele entreedeuren geven toegang tot een hal met links het klaslokaal en rechts een woonkamer met eenvoudig schouwtje en een slaapkamer daarachter. Achter de hal liggen de trap naar zolder en de keuken. De keuken en de uitgebouwde w.c. zijn mogelijk van oudere datum dan de rest van het gebouw.
Waardering
Dorpsschooltje van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch en stedebouwkundig belang vanwege:
- de oorspronkelijke functie, en het feit dat notabelen in een dorpsgemeenschap zich inzetten voor onderwijs aan meisjes
- sobere maar opvallende vormgeving van de voorgevel

Sewing and knitting school built in 1873 with royal approval, on the initiative of residents of Diepenveen from the amateur dramatics society 'Tot Nut en Genoegen'. The single-class village schoolhouse with living quarters for the teacher was built on the edge of the village centre at that time, next to the bridge over the Soestwetering. The building now houses a studio.
Description
Schoolhouse built in brick from a rectangular ground plan under a hipped roof with pantiles and a simple brick gutter. The rendered entrance section (W) projects forward, is built higher and has an attached gabled roof with wind vanes. The entrance consists of two paired doors each with a arched fanlight under rendered moulding. In the gable top an arched window under moulding and on either side of the projection double, arched six-pane windows under rendered moulding and under the eaves a rendered band with simple arch frieze. In each of the side gables two straight-sided six-pane windows. In the rear gable a door and a window, to the right of which the original built-out w.c. later enlarged to storage. With this an original window in the rear gable was bricked up. The wooden extension against the rear gable is also of later date. This extension stands against an originally blank gable surface.
InteriorThe interior is austere, but in good condition as to layout and detailing. The double entrance doors give access to a hall with the classroom on the left and on the right a living room with a simple hearth and a bedroom behind it. Behind the hall are the staircase to the loft and the kitchen. The kitchen and the built-out w.c. may be of older date than the rest of the building.
