Inleiding
Cafe-restaurant met bovenwoning gebouwd rond 1910 in een Art Nouveau-trant naar ontwerp van G. Otten Jzn.. Het pand staat op de hoek van het Kerkplein en speelt daarop in door een schuin geplaatste entree met hangend erker en een toren-achtige kap. Het pand maakt nu onderdeel uit van cafe-restaurant Oasis.
Omschrijving
Hoekpand met zwart gekleurde en gepleisterde plint, Art Nouveau etalagepui in gelakt hout onder I-profielen latei en omgeven door gebrokenwit pleisterwerk waarin Art Nouveau siermotieven (onder andere monogram van Geert Otten); opgaand metselwerk (deels geverfd) in grauwe baksteen met geel-rood-gele banden. Daklijst met fries van geglazuurde tegels tussen de bewerkte consoles die een geprofileerde goot dragen. Samengestelde kap met geglazuurde tuile du nordpannen. Entree op de afgeschuinde hoek bestaande uit een in Art Nouveau stijl gedetailleerde deur met bovenlicht binnen decoratief pleisterwerk. Daarboven een op gietijzeren consoles geplaatst houten erker voorzien van snijwerk en oorspronkelijke roedeverdeling. De erker wordt bekroond door een licht inzwenkende steile kap waarop pirons. De noordgevel heeft op de verdieping twee rechtgesloten schuiframen met drieruits bovenlichten onder een segmentboog met aanzet- en sluitstenen; in het boogveld siermetselwerk. Centraal geplaatst en de daklijst doorbrekend een opgemetseld dakkapel met inzwenkend zadeldak voorzien van enig snijwerk; in het boogveld siermetselwerk. De oostgevel (naar het plein) heeft aan de linkerkant een deur voorzien van snijwerk, sierhekje en bovenlicht met Art Nouveau snijwerk. Rechts daarvan een deel van de pui. Boven de pui een op gietijzeren consoles geplaatst balkon; hekwerk voorzien van Art Nouveau snijwerk; balkondeuren met vierruits bovenlicht (verticale roeden). Links hiervan een venster met drieruits bovenlicht. Boven de daklijst een eenvoudig dakkapel met zadeldak.

Cafe-restaurant van architectuurhistorisch en stedebouwkundig belang vanwege de typologie, de vormgeving, het materiaalgebruik en het oeuvre van Otten alsmede vanwege de beeldbepalende ligging op de hoek van het Kerkplein.

Description
Corner building with black-coloured and plastered plinth, Art Nouveau shop front in lacquered wood under I-profile lintels and surrounded by broken-white plasterwork in which Art Nouveau decorative motifs (including monogram of Geert Otten); rising brickwork (partly painted) in grey brick with yellow-red-yellow bands. Cornice with frieze of glazed tiles between the worked consoles which carry a profiled gutter. Composite roof with glazed tuile du nord tiles. Entrance on the chamfered corner consisting of a door detailed in Art Nouveau style with fanlight within decorative plasterwork. Above this a wooden bay window placed on cast-iron consoles provided with carved work and original glazing bars. The bay window is crowned by a slightly inward-leaning steep roof upon which pirons. The north facade has on the first floor two right-angled sash windows with three-pane fanlights under a segmental arch with abutting and voussoir stones; decorative brickwork in the arch spandrel. Centrally placed and breaking through the cornice a built-up dormer window with inward-leaning gabled roof provided with some carved work; decorative brickwork in the arch spandrel. The east facade (facing the square) has on the left side a door provided with carved work, ornamental railings and fanlight with Art Nouveau carved work. To the right of this part of the shop front. Above the shop front a balcony placed on cast-iron consoles; railings provided with Art Nouveau carved work; balcony doors with four-pane fanlight (vertical glazing bars). To the left of this a window with three-pane fanlight. Above the cornice a simple dormer window with gabled roof.
