Inleiding
Van deze 19e eeuw aangelegde BEGRAAFPLAATS is een groot deel gereserveerd voor FAMILIEGRAVEN van Ter Horst. De industriële activiteit van de familie Ter Horst heeft in Rijssen en de wijde omtrek rond de eeuwwisseling het leven in hoge mate bepaald.
De begraafplaats is gelegen in de noordoost-hoek van de kruising Lentfertsweg - Verlengde Oranjestraat. De ligging van de begraafplaats markeert de stedebouwkundige ontwikkeling van Rijssen; eind 19e eeuw was hier de stadsrand. De plaats mark eert nog de overgang van de oude kern naar latere uitbreidingswijken.
De ommuring van de begraafplaats is opgetrokken uit stenen die afkomstig zijn van de oude toren van de Schildkerk.
Omschrijving
19e eeuwse ommuurde begraafplaats met ijzeren toegangshek tussen bakstenen hekpijlers met profiellijst. Ommuring deels met ezelsrug. De ommuring is onderbroken ter plaatse van het monument 1940-1945, dat niet onder de bescherming valt.
Op de begraafplaats bevinden zich verschillende familiegraven van Ter Horst. In de zuidelijke hoek bestaan de familiegraven uit eenvoudige natuurstenen platen met inscriptie. Eén graf is voorzien van een ijzeren hekwerk met gietijzeren hoekbalusters. Centraal ligt de graftuin van familie D. ter Horst. De tuin is afgezet met een ijzeren hekwerk met enkele gietijzeren balusters. Voor de tuin ligt een natuurstenen plaat met het opschrift "D. ter Horst 1887".
In de noordwest-hoek ligt eenzelfde tuin van de familie J.H. ter Horst, hier de inscriptie "J.H. ter Horst 1877". In deze graftuin is een marmeren sculptuur geplaatst, voorstellende een boomstronk met een anker en een kruis aan de voet en met de inscriptie "Ter nagedachtenis aan de geachte patroons en familie van hunne dankbare werklieden November 1889".

A large part of this 19th century established CEMETERY is reserved for FAMILY GRAVES of Ter Horst. The industrial activities of the Ter Horst family determined life in Rijssen and the wider surrounding area around the turn of the century to a large degree.
The cemetery is located in the northeast corner of the intersection of Lentfertsweg and Verlengde Oranjestraat. The location of the cemetery marks the urban development of Rijssen; at the end of the 19th century this was the city edge. The enclosure wall of the cemetery is built from stones that came from the old tower of the Schildkerk.

19th century walled cemetery with iron access gate between brick gate piers with moulded edge. Enclosure wall partly with saddle-back coping. The enclosure wall is interrupted at the location of the 1940-1945 memorial, which is not under protection.
On the cemetery are various family graves of Ter Horst. In the southern corner the family graves consist of simple natural stone slabs with inscription. One grave is provided with iron railings with cast-iron corner balusters. Centrally located is the grave garden of the family D. ter Horst. The garden is enclosed with iron railings with several cast-iron balusters. In front of the garden lies a natural stone slab with the inscription "D. ter Horst 1887".
In the northwest corner lies a similar garden of the family J.H. ter Horst, here with the inscription "J.H. ter Horst 1877". In this grave garden a marble sculpture has been placed, depicting a tree stump with an anchor and a cross at the foot and with the inscription "In memory of the esteemed employers and family from their grateful workers November 1889".
