Inleiding
Pand, waarschijnlijk in oorsprong in gebruik als OPSLAGRUIMTE en GARAGE, gelegen ten oosten van het voormalige stafgebouw en de voormalige ziekenboeg, onderdeel uitmakend van het complex 'voormalige Duitse ziekenboeg" te Den Helder. De inrijpoorten van de garage liggen op de as van de ingang van het terrein.
Omschrijving
Op rechthoekig grondplan gebouwd pand, bestaande uit één bouwlaag onder een verzonken zadeldak, in oorsprong gedekt met Hollandse pannen. Aan de zuidelijke kopgevel bevindt zich een kleine rechthoekige aanbouw van één bouwlaag onder zadeldak. De noklijnen van pand en aanbouw lopen evenwijdig met de Nieuweweg.
De constructie bestaat uit wanden, muren en plafonds van gewapend beton. De buitenmuren zijn bekleed met baksteen. Tenzij anders vermeld bevatten de vensterassen een betonnen kruisvenster met stalen luiken. De vensters hebben terugliggende houten ramen met roedenverdeling. De voorgevel (W) heeft een breedte van zes vensterassen. Links bevindt zich een terugliggend geveldeel ter breedte van vier vensterassen met veranda. Dit geveldeel bevat drie kruisvensters en (rechts) één getoogde deuropening met gecementeerde architraaf. De deur is rechthoekig en heeft een getoogd bovenlicht. De veranda bestaat uit stalen I-profielstijlen die de zoldervloer en daklijst ondersteunen. In het rechter geveldeel bevonden zich in oorsprong twee getoogde garagepoorten met dubbele stalen deuren. Alleen de rechter garagedeur is nog intact. Geheel rechts is de aanbouw te zien, die één kruisvenster bevat.
De kopgevels (N en Z) hebben een tuitgevel met schouderstukken. De linkerzijgevel (N) heeft in de centrale as een terugliggende getoogde houten deur met gecementeerde architraaf. In de kap is een klein rechthoekig venster aangebracht.
De rechterzijgevel (Z) bestaat uit de kopgevel van de aanbouw en een deel van het muurwerk van het hoofdvolume. De aanbouw bevat een terugliggende getoogde stalen deur en een klein zoldervenster. Het muurwerk van het hoofdvolume is blind en bevat een risalerende schoorsteen.
De achtergevel (O) bevatte in oorsprong vijf kruisvensters. Het tweede venster van links is niet meer origineel.
Waardering
De voormalige opslagruimte met garage is van algemeen belang als historisch functioneel onderdeel van het complex "voormalig Duits ziekenboegcomplex" te Den Helder. Building built on a rectangular ground plan, consisting of one storey under a recessed gabled roof, originally covered with Dutch tiles. On the southern gable end there is a small rectangular extension of one storey under gabled roof. The ridge lines of the building and extension run parallel to the Nieuweweg.
The construction consists of walls, masonry and ceilings of reinforced concrete. The external walls are clad with brick. Unless otherwise stated, the window axes contain a reinforced concrete cross window with steel shutters. The windows have recessed wooden frames with glazing bars. The front facade (W) has a width of six window axes. On the left there is a recessed facade section with a width of four window axes with veranda. This facade section contains three cross windows and (on the right) one arched door opening with cemented architrave. The door is rectangular and has an arched fanlight. The veranda consists of steel I-section posts supporting the floor and cornice. In the right facade section there were originally two arched garage doors with double steel doors. Only the right garage door remains intact. At the far right the extension is visible, which contains one cross window.
The gable ends (N and S) have a spout gable with shoulder pieces. The left side facade (N) has in the central axis a recessed arched wooden door with cemented architrave. In the roof truss a small rectangular window has been installed.
The right side facade (S) consists of the gable end of the extension and a section of the masonry of the main volume. The extension contains a recessed arched steel door and a small loft window. The masonry of the main volume is blank and contains a projecting chimney.
The rear facade (E) originally contained five cross windows. The second window from the left is no longer original.
Valuation
The former storage space with garage is of general importance as a historic functional component of the complex "former German sick bay complex" at Den Helder. Additionally, the object has ensemble value with the former staff building and the former sick bay, which are constructed in the same building tradition.
