Inleiding
In 1907-1908 in opdracht van Jos M.J. Braam gebouwde BOLLENSCHUUR, naar ontwerp van de Heemsteedse aannemer P. Smit. In het bouwarchief wordt de schuur als bloembollenloods aangeduid. De bollenschuur, die ter vervanging kwam van een ouder exemplaar, bevindt zich aan de noordzijde van de Kadijk, ten noorden van de Glippervaart.
Omschrijving
Op rechthoekig grondplan gebouwde bollenschuur van twee bouwlagen onder flauw hellend zadeldak bekleed met zwarte kruispan. De bollenschuur ligt met de lange zijde parallel aan de Glippervaart. De gevels van de schuur zijn opgetrokken uit wit gepleisterde platen van drijfsteen welke zijn gevat in een groen geverfd houten frame (montagesysteem). Dit alles staat op een plint van baksteen. De noordelijke gevelwand bestaat uit een achttal vensterassen met elk twee vensters (of een enkele deur) boven elkaar. De vensters hebben een roedenverdeling. De oostelijke zijgevel kent drie vensterassen met elk twee vensters boven elkaar. De zuidelijke gevelwand is tien vensterassen breed, waarbij bij vijf vensterassen de vensters boven elkaar liggen; de overige vijf vensterassen kennen in elke vensteras één venster c.q. deur respectievelijk op de begane grond c.q. verdieping. De westelijke zijgevel kent wederom drie vensterassen met vensters boven elkaar.
Waardering
De bollenschuur is van algemeen belang uit architectuurhistorisch oogpunt als gaaf bewaard en zeldzaam geworden voorbeeld van een vroeg twintigste-eeuwse bollenschuur, gebouwd volgens een montagesysteem. Het object is tevens cultuurhistorisch van belang als tastbaar onderdeel uit de geschiedenis van de bollenteelt in de kuststreek.

BULB STORAGE SHED built in 1907-1908 on commission of Jos M.J. Braam, to the design of Heemstede contractor P. Smit. In the building archive the shed is referred to as a bulb warehouse. The bulb storage shed, which replaced an older structure, is located on the north side of the Kadijk, north of the Glippervaart.
Description
Bulb storage shed built on a rectangular ground plan with two storeys under a gently pitched gabled roof clad with black Dutch tiles. The bulb storage shed lies with its long side parallel to the Glippervaart. The facades of the shed are constructed from white plastered sheets of driftstone set in a green painted wooden frame (assembly system). All of this stands on a brick plinth. The northern facade wall consists of eight window bays with two windows each (or a single door) one above the other. The windows have glazing bars. The eastern side facade has three window bays with two windows each one above the other. The southern facade wall is ten window bays wide, with five window bays having windows one above the other; the remaining five window bays each have one window or door respectively on the ground floor or first floor. The western side facade likewise has three window bays with windows one above the other.
Valuation
The bulb storage shed is of general significance from an architectural history perspective as a well-preserved and rare example of an early twentieth-century bulb storage shed built according to an assembly system.
