Inleiding
Omstreeks 1871, naar ontwerp van K.H. van Brederode, in opdracht van deStaats Spoorwegen gebouwd stationsgebouw "der vijfde klasse". Eenvoudiggebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond met een risalerend middendeel van twee lagen hoog onder een dwars geplaatst, flauw hellend zadeldak. De zijvleugels zijn één laag hoog onder, in de lengte richting geplaatste, eveneens flauw hellende zadeldaken. Het station behoort tot de standaard ontwerpen van de Staats Spoorwegen uit deze periode.
Omschrijving Het gebouw is opgetrokken uit geheel gepleisterd metselwerk. De gevelsbezitten alle verdiepte muurvelden waardoor accentuering van de gevelhoeken en de daklijn ontstaat. Het geheel is geplaatst op een donker getinte plint. Ter hoogte van de verdiepingvloer bezit het middendeel een dubbele gevelband waarin aan de zuidzijde diamantkop-vormige decoraties zijn aangebracht. Aan de zuidzijde bevindt zich op de begane grond een getoogd, houten 2x3ruits raam in beide zijvleugels, aan de oostelijke zijde origineel met onder het raam een verdiept veld met een cirkeldecoratie; aan de westelijke zijde is dit mogelijk een verbouwde deurpartij. De middenpartij bezit twee stel dubbele deuren in getoogde kozijnen met om de bovenlichten een geprofileerde gepleisterde omlijsting. Op de verdieping getoogde 2x3 ruits ramen met tussen de kozijnen en de daaronder gelegen gevelband een verdiept veld met een reeks nisjes. De noordgevel bezit in de oostelijke vleugel slechts een deur en tegen de westelijke vleugel een sobere houten uitbouw onder een plat dak. Demiddenpartij bezit een getoogd houten, 2x3 ruits schuifraam waaronder een verdiept veld met cirkeldecoratie en aan weerszijden van het raam een dubbele deur met getoogd, 4-ruits bovenlicht. De bovenlicht gedeelten zijn voorzien van geprofileerde gepleisterde omlijstingen. Op de verdieping bevindt zich een breed getoogd 3-licht kozijn met schuiframen met roedeverdeling. De smallere zijlichten zijn uitgevoerd met bovenste ruiten in rondboogvorm. Tussen het kozijn en de gevellijst een verdiept veld met een reeks nisjes. In de top een getoogd 4-ruits stolpraam. De topgevel van de westelijke vleugel bezit een geblindeerd rond topvenster, de oostelijke topgevel een cirkelvomige topdecoratie, twee deuropeningen en een klein venster.
De gevels worden afgesloten door overstekende, houten bakgoten en overstekende daklijsten op klossen. De oorspronkelijke bedekking van de flauw hellende zadeldaken is vervangen door het huidige bitumineuze materiaal.
Het hoge dak bezit twee stuks nokschoorstenen.
Het interieur is zeer sober en gedeeltelijk aangepast en bevat geenwaardevolle elementen.

Around 1871, designed by K.H. van Brederode, built on commission of the State Railways a station building "of the fifth class". Simple building on rectangular plan with a projecting central section two storeys high under a transversely placed, gently sloping gabled roof. The side wings are one storey high under, longitudinally placed, likewise gently sloping gabled roofs. The station belongs to the standard designs of the State Railways from this period.
Description The building is constructed of entirely rendered masonry. The facades all possess recessed wall panels creating accentuation of the facade corners and the roofline. The whole is placed on a dark-tinted plinth. At the level of the floor between storeys the central section possesses a double facade band in which diamond-head-shaped decorations are applied on the south side. On the south side at ground level there is an arched wooden 2x3 pane window in both side wings, on the eastern side originally with below the window a recessed field with a circular decoration; on the western side this is possibly a converted door arrangement. The central part possesses two sets of double doors in arched frames with around the fanlights a moulded rendered surround. On the upper floor arched 2x3 pane windows with between the frames and the facade band below a recessed field with a series of niches. The north facade possesses in the eastern wing only a door and against the western wing a sober wooden extension under a flat roof. The central part possesses an arched wooden 2x3 pane sash window below which a recessed field with circular decoration and on either side of the window a double door with arched 4-pane fanlight. The fanlight sections are provided with moulded rendered surrounds. On the upper floor there is a broad arched 3-light frame with sash windows with glazing bars. The narrower side lights are executed with upper panes in round-arch form. Between the frame and the facade band a recessed field with a series of niches. At the top an arched 4-pane hoist window. The gable of the western wing possesses a blind round gable window, the eastern gable a circular gable decoration, two door openings and a small window.
The facades are finished with overhanging wooden gutters and overhanging roof mouldings on corbels. The original covering of the gently sloping gabled roofs has been replaced by the current bituminous material.
The high roof possesses two ridge chimneys.
The interior is very plain and partially altered and contains no valuable elements.
Valuation
Station building of general importance because of its cultural-historical value and because of the integrity and recognisability of the building type. Of ensemble value through its situation and relation to the railway line.
