Inleiding
Betonnen dijkverhogingselementen volgens een systeem, ontwikkeld door ir. R.R.L. de Muralt van het Waterschap Schouwen. Het systeem werd toegepast sinds 1906. Deze verhoging werd geplaatst in 1933, het laatste jaar waarin dit systeem werd toegepast. Het betreft een nog nagenoeg aaneengesloten muur van ca. 1700 m lengte op een voormalige zeedijk van de Lovenpolder. Bij de afsluiting van de Braakman in 1952 heeft de dijk de functie als zeewering verloren.
Omschrijving
Dijkverhogingssysteem bestaande uit langwerpige betonnen muurplaten met voetplaten die flexibel met elkaar verbonden zijn door muurlijsten met sponningen.

Dijkverhogingssysteem van algemeen belang vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden en van waarde vanwege zeldzaamheid en als één der laatstgeplaatste verhogingen volgens dit systeem.

Description
Introduction
Concrete dike heightening elements according to a system developed by ir. R.R.L. de Muralt of the Waterschap Schouwen. The system was applied from 1906 onwards. This heightening was installed in 1933, the last year in which this system was applied. It concerns a still almost continuous wall of approximately 1700 m in length on a former sea dike of the Lovenpolder.
