Inleiding
Vrijstaand, verdiepingloos woonhuis op rechthoekige plattegrond, in 1898 gebouwd in ambachtelijk-traditionele bouwtrant. Relatief recent is tegen de zuidwestelijke achterhoek van de woning een verdiepingloze, platgedekte bijkeuken gebouwd welke niet onder de bescherming valt.
Omschrijving
Gedeeltelijk onderkelderd woonhuis van vijf traveeën breedte, opgetrokken uit gele baksteen in kruisverband; strekken boven kozijnen, gootconsoles en topgevelafdekkingen in contrasterende rode baksteen.
De voorgevel is in het midden voorzien van entree met paneeldeur en bovenlicht met levensboom, aan weerszijden twee zesruits schuiframen. De oorspronkelijke duimen van de luikgehengen zijn nog aanwezig. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een gemetseld fries onder de gootlijst. De linker zijgevel is voorzien van staafankers en bezit een rechthoekig venster in de geveltop en een smal drieruits schuifraam op de begane grond nabij de voorgevel. Bij de achtergevel de jongere bijkeuken aanbouw. De achtergevel is in hoofdopzet vergelijkbaar met de voorgevel met eveneens een centrale deurpartij met levensboom in het bovenlicht. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde bakgoot op gemetselde gootconsoles. Tegen de noordelijke hoek bevindt zich een gemetselde regenwaterput. De noordelijke zijgevel is vergelijkbaar met de zuidelijke zijgevel, hier is echter ook nabij de achtergevel nog een smal, drieruits schuifraam aanwezig. De woning is voorzien van een zadeldak tussen topgevels met de nokevenwijdig aan de voorgevel, gedekt met gesmoorde kruispannen. Op degeveltoppen staan schoorstenen.
In het interieur sobere woningopzet met noordelijk van de centrale dwarsgang een voor- en een achterkamer met daartussen de toegang tot de keldertrap en zuidelijk een voorkamer en een keukenruimte met daartussende trapopgang naar de zolder. In het interieur voorts onder meer balken plafonds, schouwen met beschilderde houten mantels en boezems met pilasterdecoratie en medaillons met kopjes bovenin; schilderwerk op stucop de schoorsteenboezem in de zuidelijke voorkamer van huisschilder Wisse uit Zaamslag, voorstellende Simson en de leeuw; de binnendeur van de noordelijke voorkamer is beschilderd met bloemmotieven.
In de kelder onder de noordelijke achterkamer zijn de trap en de vloer voorzien van rode plavuizen, tevens een plafond met troggewelf. De zolder bezit slecht aan de voorgevel enkele eenvoudig afgetimmerde kamers. De beschoten kap wordt gedragen door vier stuks spitsboogvormige schenkelspanten met trekplaat en nokstijl.

Woning van algemeen belang vanwege architectuurhistorische waarden als gaaf en goed gedetailleerd voorbeeld van traditionele boerderijwoningbouw, tevens van belang als karakteristiek en essentieel samenstellend onderdeel van het complex.

Partially cellaried dwelling of five bays wide, constructed of yellow brick in English bond; stretchers above window frames, gutter consoles and top gable coverings in contrasting red brick.
The front gable is provided in the centre with an entrance with panel door and fanlight with tree of life, on either side two six-pane sash windows. The original hinges for the shutters are still present. The gable is finished by a brick frieze under the gutter line. The left side gable is provided with staple anchors and has a rectangular window in the gable top and a narrow three-pane sash window on the ground floor near the front gable. At the rear gable the more recent scullery extension. The rear gable is comparable in main layout to the front gable, also with a central door section with tree of life in the fanlight. The gable is finished with a profiled brick gutter on mortared gutter consoles. Against the northern corner there is a mortared rainwater tank. The northern side gable is comparable to the southern side gable, here however there is also a narrow three-pane sash window near the rear gable. The dwelling has a gabled roof between end gables with the ridge parallel to the front gable, covered with smothered cross tiles. Chimneys stand on the gable tops.
In the interior, a simple dwelling layout with a front and back room to the north of the central cross-passage with access to the cellar stairs between them and to the south a front room and a kitchen space with the staircase to the attic between; in the interior also including among other things beamed ceilings, fireplaces with painted wooden mantels and jambs with pilaster decoration and medallions with portraits at the top; painted work on stucco on the chimney jamb in the southern front room by house painter Wisse from Zaamslag, depicting Samson and the lion; the interior door of the northern front room is painted with flower motifs.
In the cellar under the northern back room the stairs and floor are provided with red tiles, also a ceiling with barrel vault. The attic has only some simply timber-finished rooms at the front gable. The boarded roof truss is supported by four pointed-arch-shaped rafter couples with collar tie and ridge post.
Valuation
Dwelling of general significance due to architectural-historical values as a well-preserved and well-detailed example of traditional farmhouse dwelling construction, also of importance as a characteristic and essential component of the complex.
