Omschrijving
De rechthoekige SLUISKOLK is 140 meter lang en 12 meter breed en bestaat uit een betonnen vloer met stalen wanden en gemetselde kademuren. Op het beneden- en bovenhoofd van de sluiskolk bevinden zich de stalen hefschuiven tussen betonnen heftorens. De torens zijn opgetrokken vanuit een vierkante plattegrond onder overstekende zadeldaken die met rode Hollandse pannen zijn gedekt. Tegen de oostgevels leiden buitentrappen naar de stalen deuren in de torens boven de poortvormige doorgangen op de begane grond. De om de hoek lopende vensterreeksen in het uitkragende deel van de torens boven de hefschuiven zijn voorzien van stalen kozijnen. Datzelfde geldt voorde smalle vertikale vensters in de gevels van de torens aan de buitenkant van de sluiskolk.

Description
The rectangular SLUICE CHAMBER is 140 metres long and 12 metres wide and consists of a concrete floor with steel walls and masonry quay walls. On the lower and upper end of the sluice chamber are located the steel lifting gates between concrete lifting towers. The towers are constructed from a square ground plan beneath overhanging gabled roofs covered with red Dutch tiles. Against the east facades external staircases lead to the steel doors in the towers above the gateway-shaped passages on the ground floor. The window rows running around the corner in the projecting part of the towers above the lifting gates are fitted with steel frames. The same applies to the narrow vertical windows in the facades of the towers on the outside of the sluice chamber.
