Inleiding
De MUZIEKKOEPEL in het voormalige volkspark Scholtenhagen is in 1925 gebouwd in opdracht van de Stichting Scholtenhagen door de architect J. Nijhuis uit Haaksbergen. Willem Hendrik Jordaan, medefirmant van de textielfabrikant D. Jordaan en Zonen in Haaksbergen, kocht in 1886 het erf Scholtenhagen met de bijbehorende boerderij. Een jaar later liet de familie Jordaan op deze plek een park aanleggen en werd de boerderij uitgebreid met een gelagkamer. In 1891 ging het park over in handen van een stichting met als doelstelling: " Het vestigen van een gelegenheid voor de ingezetenen van de gemeente Haaksbergen tot uitspanning en ondersteuning van hulpbehoevende oude werklieden van de firma D. Jordaan en Zoon uit de inkomsten der bezittingen der stichting." De muziekkoepel is onderdeel van het Volkspark Scholtenhagen en staat in de nabijheid van de tot restaurant verbouwde boerderij en een hierheen verplaatst voormalige dubbele arbeiderswoning uit 1836. De oorspronkelijke parkaanleg is ingrijpend gewijzigd.
Omschrijving
De muziekkoepel heeft een rechte open voorkant (O) en een vijfzijdig gesloten achtergevel (W). Boven de in bruine baksteen opgetrokken basis met spaarvelden onder rondbogen heeft de koepel gepotdekselde wanden. Het vijfzijdige overstekende tentdak is gedekt met dakleer en de windveer aan de voorgevel is decoratief beschilderd.
Aan de voorzijde geeft een gemetseld trapje toegang tot het podium dat wordt geflankeerd door overhoekse gemetselde bloembakken met uitkragend siermetselwerk op de hoeken. Het gewelf in de koepel is boven het schoon metselwerk van de gevels gepleisterd.

The MUSIC PAVILION in the former public park Scholtenhagen was built in 1925 at the commission of the Stichting Scholtenhagen by architect J. Nijhuis from Haaksbergen. Description
The music pavilion has a straight open front (E) and a five-sided closed rear facade (W). Above the basis constructed in brown brick with spare panels under arches, the pavilion has pot-tiled walls. The five-sided overhanging tent roof is covered with roofing felt and the wind brace on the front facade is decoratively painted.
On the front side a brick step provides access to the platform which is flanked by angled brick planters with overhanging decorative brickwork on the corners. The vault in the pavilion is plastered above the fair-faced brickwork of the facades.
