Inleiding
Bouwvolume met PASTORIE en CATECHISATIELOKAAL in een eclectische bouwstijl met gotische en Hollandse neo-renaissancistische elementen ontworpen in 1887 door architect G. te Riele uit Deventer, in opdracht van het kerkbestuur van de roomskatholieke St. Pancratiuskerk (apart monumentnummer 18873). Gelegen aan de westzijde van de Markt, recht tegenover de voorgevel van de vrijstaande Pancratiuskerk. Achter het catechisatielokaal is nieuwbouw toegevoegd, voor de bescherming van ondergeschikt belang. Smeedijzeren hekwerk rond voortuin.
Omschrijving
Het twee bouwlagen hoge gedeelte van de pastorie, onder een afgeknot schilddak, is opgetrokken op een plattegrond die bestaat uit een winkelhaak. In de oksel van de winkelhaak is later een eveneens twee bouwlagen hoog gedeelte onder een plat toegevoegd. Aan de korte zuidkant van het hoge deel is een catechisatielokaaltje van één bouwlaag gebouwd, dat voorzien is van een zadeldak met een steekkap. De kappen zijn gedekt met leien in maasdekking en hebben twee dakkapellen met wolfeind, sierspant en piron; één boven de achtergevel (W) en één in het zuidelijke dakvlak van het schilddak. De gevels van donkerbruine baksteen zijn geleed door zesruits vensters. Op de verdieping, in de aanbouw en in het catechisatielokaal zijn de vensters onder driepasboogvelden geplaatst. De topgevel en trapgevel zijn voorzien van een spitsboogvenster.
Tussen de bouwlagen zorgen een waterlijst en decoratieve uitsparingen voor de horizontale geleding van de gevels. Sierankers in alle gevels. Het twee bouwlagen hoge hoofdvolume van het gebouw is aan de voorzijde (O) voorzien van een vijf traveeën brede symmetrische gevel met een trapgevel boven de middelste risalerende travee, waarin de hoofdingang geplaatst is. De trapgevel wordt bekroond door drie pironnen. Links daarvan in het catechisatielokaal bevinden zich twee venstertraveeën en op de hoek een topgevel waaronder een tweede ingang. De achtergevel (W) van de pastorie bestaat door de toevoeging nu uit drie (i.p.v. twee) traveeën, waarvan de middelste voorzien is van een deur. Rechts daarvan is de gevel verdwenen achter de nieuwbouw.
Waardering
Het bouwvolume met de pastorie en het catechisatielokaal is van cultuur-, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig belang:

Description
The two-storey part of the parsonage, under a hipped roof, is constructed on a floor plan consisting of an L-shape. In the angle of the L-shape a likewise two-storey part was later added under a flat roof. On the short south side of the high part a small catechism classroom of one storey has been built, which is provided with a gabled roof with a gabled roof. The roofs are covered with slate in Dutch bond and have two roof dormers with half-hipped ends, decorative purlin and cresting; one above the rear gable (W) and one in the southern roof plane of the hipped roof. The gables of dark brown brick are articulated by six-pane windows. On the upper floor, in the extension and in the catechism classroom the windows are placed under trefoil arch fields. The pointed gable and stepped gable are provided with a pointed arch window.
Between the storeys a drip moulding and decorative recesses provide the horizontal articulation of the gables. Ornamental wall anchors in all gables. The two-storey main volume of the building is on the front side (E) provided with a five-bay wide symmetrical gable with a stepped gable above the projecting middle bay, in which the main entrance is placed. The stepped gable is crowned by three crestings. To the left of it in the catechism classroom are two window bays and on the corner a pointed gable beneath which a second entrance. The rear gable (W) of the parsonage now consists of three (instead of two) bays, of which the middle one is provided with a door. To the right of it the gable has disappeared behind the new construction.
