Inleiding
Pompgebouw uit 1925 gebouwd in de trant van de Art Nouveau en uitgevoerd in opdracht van Rijkswaterstaat. Het gebouw diende om water op te kunnen pompen naar een hoger gelegen kanaalpand en is gelegen in een daartoe gegraven kanaaltracé. De installatie is van jongere datum.
Omschrijving
Pompgebouw op rechthoekige grondslag en gedekt door een schilddak met verbeterde Hollandse pan, pirons en twee dakkapellen (waarin gekoppelde vierruits vensters); geprofileerde daklijst op klossen. De onderbouw is opgetrokken in gesinterde rode baksteen. De hoeken en randen van de landhoofden zijn uitgevoerd in hardsteen. De inlaten zijn voorzien van gewelven met hardstenen aanzet- en sluitstenen. De bovenbouw is opgetrokken in een ruwe rode baksteen met accenten in donker rode baksteen. De zuidzijde heeft twee rechtgesloten vensters voorzien van geglazuurde tegels als lekdorpel; neggeblokken en latei in hardsteen. De rechtervenster is blind; de linker voorzien van kalf en zesruits bovenlicht. Noordgevel vergelijkbare opbouw met in het midden een stichtingssteen 1925. Oost- en westgevel met een vrij gesloten karakter waarin toegangen zijn aangezet met een gemetselde stoep, neggeblokken en lateien.

Pompgebouw van cultuurhistorisch, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig belang vanwege de ontwikkeling van de infrastructuur, de typologie, de vormgeving en het materiaalgebruik alsmede vanwege de ligging op het sluiseiland en in de nabijheid van het beschermd dorpsgezicht Havelte.

Pump building on rectangular plan and covered by a hipped roof with improved Dutch tile, cresting and two roof dormers (containing coupled four-pane windows); profiled roof line on corbels. The substructure is built in sintered red brick. The corners and edges of the landing stages are executed in hardstone. The inlets are provided with vaults with hardstone setting and key stones. The superstructure is built in rough red brick with accents in dark red brick. The south side has two straight-headed windows provided with glazed tiles as drip edge; breaking stones and lintels in hardstone. The right window is blind; the left provided with a calf and six-pane fanlight. North facade with comparable construction with in the centre a foundation stone 1925. East and west facades with a largely closed character in which entrances are set with a brick step, breaking stones and lintels.
