Inleiding
Door de Waterleiding Maatschappij Overijssel (W.M.O.) in 1931 gebouwde, 45,5 m hoge watertoren, waarin zich een betonnen holbodemreservoir met een inhoud van 400 m3 bevindt. De vorm van de toren is met name verwant aan die van de watertorens van Steenwijkerwold en Raalte.
Omschrijving
De toren is van gewapend beton, opgetrokken met een glijbekisting en bekleed met baksteen. Hij verjongt vanuit de basis en heeft uit- en inspringende hoeken met bovenin overhoekse invullingen, smalle vensters en een octogonaal, gebroken tentdak met geglazuurde pannen en verspringende randen aan de staande dakschilden. De voorgevel heeft een entree met dubbele keperboogdeur met hardstenen drempel en poeren in een keperboogportiek, alsmede een vlaggestok in een betonnen houder. De linker gevelpartij en hoek zijn vernieuwd en opgetrokken uit nieuwe baksteen met handhaving van de oorspronkelijke gevelopbouw.

Description
The tower is of reinforced concrete, constructed using a sliding formwork and clad with brick. It tapers from the base and features projecting and recessed corners with chamfered infill panels at the top, narrow windows and an octagonal, broken hipped roof with glazed tiles and staggered edges to the standing roof panels. The front facade has an entrance with double header-bond arched door with hardstone threshold and jambs in a header-bond arched portico, as well as a flagpole in a concrete holder. The left facade section and corner have been renewed and constructed from new brick while maintaining the original facade composition.
Valuation
The tower is particularly important as a highly recognizable landmark, is intact in composition and of architectural-historical value due to its characteristic design, representative of the architectural quality of the objects of the Waterleiding Maatschappij Overijssel.
