Inleiding
In Neo-Classicisme in 1881 gebouwde ONDERWIJZERSWONING en SCHOOLGEBOUW.
Door een aanbouw aan de achtergevel is de woning verbonden met het voormalige schoolgebouw. Het geheel heeft een T-vormige plattegrond.
De aanbouw in de tweede bouwlaag van de achtergevel van het woonhuis, en de aanbouwen aan de frontgevel en rechterzijgevel van het voormalige schoolgebouw zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving:
De ONDERWIJZERSWONING heeft een in de lengterichting geplaatste rechthoekige plattegrond, telt twee bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt met een schilddak met pannen en met twee nokpionnen.
Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen en hardsteen. Symmetrische indeling frontgevel. Plint gecementeerd. Indeling frontgevel d.m.v. vier gestucte pilasters. Rechthoekige houten vensters en deur met segmentboogvormige bovenlichten. Rijk gedecoreerde kroonlijst met jaartalaanduiding. Neo-classicistische decoraties rond de vensters en deur in de frontgevel. In linkerzijgevel ongestucte baksteen pilasters.
In de achtergevel een rond venster met hierin gekleurd glas.
In de achtergevel in de 2e bouwlaag een aanbouw op een stalen ondersteuning. Aan de achtergevel in de eerste bouwlaag een lage aanbouw met lessenaarsdak, deze vormt de verbinding met het vroegere schoolgebouw.
Indeling interieur redelijk intact, overigens niet beschermenswaardig
Het voormalig SCHOOLGEBOUW is haaks op de onderwijzerswoning geplaatst, heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt twee bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt met een zadeldak. De tweede bouwlaag is mogelijk van iets recentere datum. Aan de rechterzijgevel een uitbouw in twee bouwlagen met een lager zadeldak. Rechthoekige vensters met aluminium kozijnen met bovenlichten. Vrijwel symmetrische indeling frontgevel. Middendeel frontgevel uitlopend in een frontonachtige topgevel. In de achtergevel een zestal segmentboogvormige venters. Aan rechterdeel frontgevel en rechterzijgevel diverse naoorlogse aanbouwen.
Interieur gewijzigd en niet beschermenswaardig.
Waardering:
De vroegere onderwijzerswoning met schoolgebouw is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en typologische ontwikkeling. De vroegere onderwijzerswoning met schoolgebouw bezit architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege het belang van het object voor de bovenregionale geschiedenis van de architectuur en de ornamentiek. Ensemblewaarde ontlenen de onderwijzerswoning en het schoolgebouw aan de situering midden in de kern Houthem, langs de doorgaande weg naar Valkenburg aan de Geul. The TEACHER'S RESIDENCE has a rectangular floor plan placed lengthwise, comprises two storeys and is covered with a hipped roof with tiles and two ridge finials.
The building materials used are brick and dressed stone. Symmetrical arrangement of front facade. Plinth is rendered. Arrangement of front facade by means of four stuccoed pilasters. Rectangular wooden windows and door with segmental arch fanlights. Richly decorated cornice with date indication. Neo-Classical decorations around the windows and door in the front facade. In left side facade unstuccoed brick pilasters.
In the rear facade a round window with coloured glass.
In the rear facade in the 2nd storey an extension on a steel support. To the rear facade in the first storey a low extension with a lean-to roof, this forms the connection with the former school building.
