Inleiding
Met elementen van Eclecticisme in 1891 gebouwd PROTESTANTS KERKJE. Het ontwerp wordt toegeschreven aan architect Dr. P.J.H. Cuypers.
Het kerkje is vrijstaand gesitueerd aan de Plenkertsstraat aan de rand van de bebouwing van Valkenburg aan de Geul bij de berghelling.
Het interieur is uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving:
Het kerkje heeft een in de lengterichting geplaatste rechthoekige plattegrond telt een bouwlaag en wordt afgedekt met een schilddak met leien in Maasdekking. De in de frontgevel geplaatste toren heeft een spits dak met leien in Maasdekking en bekroond met een weerhaan.
Vrijstaand eenbeukig kerkje met koor. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen en mergel. Rondboogvormige vensters met mergel tracering en rozetten. Galmgaten van de toren met rondboogvormige houten Louvreluiken.
Frontgevel met rechthoekige houten deur. Geaccentueerde ingangspartij uitlopend in toren.
Decoraties en raampartijen in mergel. Steunberen. Koorgedeelte met lager zadeldak.
Bijzonderheden: rechtsachter het kerkje bevindt zich een transformatorhuisje in een aan het kerkje aangepaste stijl met o.a. een zadeldak met leien; rechthoekige houten luiken met decoratief houtsnijwerk en decoratief metselwerk in de topgevel frontgevel.
In de mergelwand aan de achterzijde van het kerkje bevindt zich de grafkelder van de familie Loisel: de toegang wordt geflankeerd door twee pilasters in mergel en bekroond met een fronton en een siervaas eveneens in mergel.
Waardering:
Het protestants kerkje is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke en typologische ontwikkeling. Het kerkje bezit architectuurhistorische waarde wegens het bijzondere belang voor de bovenregionale geschiedenis van de architectuur; wegens de esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp en de ornamentiek.

Description:
The chapel has a rectangular floor plan placed in the longitudinal direction, comprises one storey and is covered with a hipped roof with slate in Maas covering. The tower placed in the front facade has a pointed roof with slate in Maas covering and is crowned with a weathervane.
