Inleiding:
Met elementen van het neoclassicisme in 1850 in opdracht van generaal De Ceva gebouwde VILLA genaamd Geerlingshof.
Omstreeks 1896 vond een ingrijpende verbouwing plaats en werd de villa uitgebreid met twee dwarsvleugels op de zijgevels van de villa.
Oorspronkelijk bevond de entree zich in de achtergevel.
De villa is fraai gesitueerd in een parkachtige tuin met oprijlanen, gazons en groenaanplant.
De bijgebouwen zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving:
De villa heeft een in de lengterichting geplaatste rechthoekige plattegrond, telt twee bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt met zadeldaken met tuiles du Nord. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is mergel. Rechthoekige houten vensters en deur met rondboogvormige bovenlichten. Symmetrische indeling frontgevel. Rechter- en linker frontgeveldeel vooruitspringend en uitlopend in een topgevel. In de eerste bouwlaag van deze geveldelen pilasters. Middendeel frontgevel uitlopend in rondboogvormige frontonachtige topgevel met hierin een nis met beeld van Sint Gerlach. Voor dit geveldeel een breed terras van recentere datum met balustrade en met brede toegangstrap. Verticale accenten d.m.v. lisenen. Overstek dakrand met decoratief tandmotief. Aan de linkerzijgevel een uitbouw in een bouwlaag met plat dak.
Achtergevel vrijwel identiek ingedeeld als frontgevel.
Middendeel achtergevel loopt uit in een driehoekige frontonachtige topgevel, tevens enkele ovale vensters in de achtergevel.
Het interieur is ingrijpend gewijzigd.
Waardering:
De villa Geerlingshof is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een typologische ontwikkeling. De villa bezit streekgebonden architectuurhistorische waarde, en is tevens van belang vanwege het toegepaste bouwmateriaal. Ensemblewaarde ontleent de villa aan de situering in een parkachtige tuin aan Broekhem. Aan deze straat bevindt zich vooral villabebouwing uit de periode 1850-1940. Daarmee is de bebouwing van bijzondere betekenis voor het aanzien van Valkenburg aan de Geul. De villa is tenslotte van algemeen belang wegens de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en de typologische zeldzaamheid.

The villa has a rectangular floor plan placed in the longitudinal direction, has two storeys and is covered with gabled roofs with tuiles du Nord tiles. The building material applied is marl. Rectangular wooden windows and door with semi-circular fanlights. Symmetrical arrangement of front facade. Right and left front facade sections projecting and terminating in a gable. Pilasters in the first storey of these facade sections. Central section front facade terminating in a semi-circular pediment-like gable with in it a niche with an image of Saint Gerlach. In front of this facade section a broad terrace of recent date with balustrade and wide access staircase. Vertical accents by means of pilaster strips. Eaves overhang with decorative dentil moulding. On the left side facade an extension in one storey with flat roof.
Rear facade laid out almost identically to front facade.
Central section rear facade terminates in a triangular pediment-like gable, also several oval windows in the rear facade.
The interior has been substantially altered.

The villa Geerlingshof is of cultural-historical value as a distinctive expression of a typological development. The villa possesses regional architectural-historical value, and is also important because of the building material applied.
