Omschrijving
HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG behorende tot de buitenplaats Berg en Vaart. In structuur en deels in detail gaaf bewaarde kleinschalige historische parkaanleg in landschapsstijl uit het einde van de achttiende eeuw (1779-1782). De aanleg kenmerkt zich door een gevarieerde ruimtelijke opbouw, waarin de besloten ruimte om en achter het huis en een panoramisch gezicht over de weilanden aan de achterzijde (vanouds een boomgaard, vergelijk de Topografische en Militaire kaart uit omstreeks 1848) de wandeling door het park een groot contrast in perspectiefwerking verleent. Aan de voorzijde een in curven verlopende oprit, die naar voorplein, huis en koetshuis voert. Oprit en voorplein worden door monumentale bomen en boomgroepen (onder andere beuk, esdoorn en eik) en door heesterpartijen (onder andere hulst) geflankeerd. Aan de achterzijde van het huis een zichtas met perspectiefwerking, die over een door heesters en bomen omsloten ruimte (thans gazon met borders) met solitair (zilverspar) voert, zich vervolgens aan de westzijde ter hoogte van een geaccidenteerde bospartij sterk vernauwt en zich ten westen daarvan ter hoogte van het genoemde weiland wederom verbreedt. In het genoemde bos een vijverpartij (waarin een eilandje), met zeer grillig oeverprofiel, en een patroon van slingerpaden. Het bos vertoont nog deels het sortiment uit de tijd van de aanleg (kastanje, eik, beuk, linde).
Aansluitend aan de achterzijde van het huis bevindt zich, naar ontwerp van Mien Ruys uit 1953 en 1968, een terras en pad met (grion) betontegels en klinkers, daarachter liggen heester- en plantenborders rondom het gazon.

Description
HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT belonging to the country estate Berg en Vaart. A small-scale historic park layout in landscape style from the end of the eighteenth century (1779-1782), well preserved in structure and partially in detail. The layout is characterized by varied spatial composition, in which the enclosed space around and behind the house and a panoramic view over the meadows on the rear side (formerly an orchard, compare the Topographic and Military map from around 1848) lends the walk through the park a striking contrast in perspective effect. On the front side a curving driveway leading to the forecourt, house and carriage house. The driveway and forecourt are flanked by monumental trees and tree groups (including beech, maple and oak) and by shrub plantings (including holly). On the rear side of the house a sight axis with perspective effect, which leads over a space enclosed by shrubs and trees (now lawn with borders) with a solitary (silver fir), then narrows considerably on the west side at the height of a sloping wooded area and widens again to the west thereof at the height of the aforementioned meadow. In the aforementioned wood a pond feature (with a small island), with a very irregular shoreline, and a pattern of winding paths. The wood still partially displays the composition from the time of the layout (chestnut, oak, beech, linden).
Adjoining the rear side of the house is, to designs by Mien Ruys from 1953 and 1968, a terrace and path with (grion) concrete tiles and clinkers, behind which lie shrub and plant borders surrounding the lawn.
