Inleiding
TWEE HALFVRIJSTAANDE ARBEIDERSWONINGEN, 1935-1936, onderdeel van het sociale woningbouwcomplex Boschpoort. Gebouwd in zakelijk expressionistische stijl naar een ontwerp van architect A.J.N. Boosten te Maastricht, in opdracht van de Bouwvereniging St.Servatius.
Gewapend betonconstructies van ingenieursbureau Henri Huydts te Maastricht, gebouwd door aannemer J. Laeven te Heerlen, onder toezicht van bouwmeester H. Reck.
De woningen werden in 1982 gerenoveerd en van een nieuwe achtergevelaanbouw voorzien. De bijgebouwde bergingen van de panden Gebr. van Limburgstraat 13 en 14 werden tegen de zijgevel van Goltziusstraat 28 gebouwd. Deze aan- en bijbouwen zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving
Twee halfvrijstaande, zuidelijk in het complex Boschpoort gesitueerde, symmetrische arbeiderswoningen (type N). Deze woningen hebben L-vormige plattegronden - vanwege de keukenuitbouw van een laag onder plat aan de achtergevel - en zijn ten opzichte van elkaar gespiegeld. De straatwand als geheel ligt in lengterichting ten opzichte van de Goltziusstraat. De woningen beschikken over twee bouwlagen met gedeeltelijke souterrain- en zolderverdiepingen. Zadeldaken met betonpannen, schoorstenen en luifelgoten.
De woningen hebben een trasraam, donker getinte bakstenen gevels in kettingverband. Betonnen venster- en deurlateien. Rollagen in de eerste bouwlaag. De overstekken van de hoekpanden steunen op betonconsoles.
Rechthoekige houten deuren met vierruits glaspaneel. Hoog onder de luifelgoot ingezette rechthoekige houten vensterkozijnen met verticale kozijngeleding. Op de begane grond identieke kozijnen waarvan de verticale geleding verwijderd is vanwege aluminium ventilatieschuiven.
Koperen onderdorpels. Rechthoekige, enigszins uitstulpende en verticaal gelede deurzijlichten.
Rechthoekige, ongelede houten zijgevelvensters.
Rechthoekige houten vensters met dubbele verticale geleding in de achtergevels. De rechthoekige, dubbele houten terrasdeuren met vierruits roedeverdeling en tweeruits bovenlicht zijn vervangen door nieuwe terrasdeuren zonder roedeverdeling.
Waardering
De twee halfvrijstaande arbeiderswoningen zijn van cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling. De architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door de bouwstijl, de betrokkenheid van architect Boosten en de esthetische kwaliteiten van zijn ontwerp.

Description
Two semi-detached, situated in the southern part of the Boschpoort complex, symmetrical workers' dwellings (type N). These dwellings have L-shaped floor plans - due to the kitchen extension of one storey with flat roof at the rear facade - and are mirror images of each other. The street facade as a whole is oriented lengthwise in relation to Goltziusstraat. The dwellings have two storeys with partial basement and attic storeys. Gabled roofs with concrete tiles, chimneys and roof gutters.
The dwellings have a tuffaceous stone frame, dark-coloured brick facades in bond. Concrete window and door lintels. Bands of brickwork in the first storey. The overhangs of the corner properties are supported on concrete corbels.
Rectangular wooden doors with four-pane glass panel. Rectangular wooden window frames set high beneath the roof gutter with vertical frame division. On the ground floor identical frames from which the vertical division has been removed due to aluminium ventilation louvres.
