Inleiding
Eclectisch HERENHUIS, in 1900 gebouwd naar een ontwerp van architect Joseph Hollman uit Maastricht in opdracht van dhr. A. Reijnen. Naderhand heeft het pand dienst gedaan als hotel. Het pand is gesitueerd in de gesloten wand van de Wilhelminasingel.
Omschrijving
Het voormalig herenhuis heeft een in lengterichting geplaatste rechthoekige plattegrond, telt drie bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt met een mansardedak met muldenpannen. Twee dakkapellen met frontonachtige zadeldakjes.
Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen, metselwerk in kruisverband, deels voorzien van stucwerk. Hardsteen.
In de eerste bouwlaag houten segmentboogvormige vensters en een rechthoekige houten deur. In de tweede en derde bouwlaag: houten rechthoekige T-vensters en balkondeuren.
Asymmetrische indeling frontgevel.
Rechterdeel frontgevel licht vooruitspringend en uitlopend in een rondboogvormige topgevel onderbroken door een dakkapel bekroond met een pinakel.
Eerste bouwlaag geheel bekleed met rustica stucwerk, in de tweede en derde bouwlaag gepleisterde speklagen. Plint geaccentueerd met een horizontale band hardsteen. Vensters met decoratieve stucomlijstingen met een accent op de kroonlijst. Dakrand met decoratieve gestucte consoles. In de tweede bouwlaag vooruitspringend geveldeel een balkon met smeedijzeren balustrade rustend op consoles, en balkondeuren met brede kroonlijst. Vensters tweede en derde bouwlaag aan bovenzijde decoratieve ijzeren luikjes.
Waardering
Dit voormalige herenhuis bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een typologische ontwikkeling.
Het pand is van architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de bouwstijl, de esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp en de ornamentiek. Description
The former townhouse has a rectangular floor plan oriented lengthwise, comprises three storeys and is covered with a mansard roof with pantiles. Two roof dormers with pediment-like gabled roofs.
