Inleiding
In eclecticische stijl gebouwde SCHOOL, 1912 naar een ontwerp dat wordt toegeschreven aan de architect Dr.P.J.H. Cuypers. Deze school, genaamd Sint Servatiusschool, is vrijstaand gesitueerd en heeft aan de voorzijde een schoolplein. De houten aanbouw aan de achtergevel en de aanbouw aan de rechterzijgevel zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving
De school heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond met een carrévorm en bestaat uit vier vleugels. De frontgevel telt twee bouwlagen, de zijgevels deels twee en deels een bouwlaag, en de achtergevel die beide zijgevels verbindt telt een bouwlaag. De delen met twee bouwlagen worden afgedekt met platte daken en de delen met een bouwlaag met zadeldaken.
Zadeldaken met houten gootklossen. Het gehele gebouw heeft een souterrainverdieping. In de frontgevel een tweetal vierkante torens, licht vooruitspringend en met drie bouwlagen en uitlopend in een borstwering met kantelen. Segmentboogvormige houten T-vensters met horizontale kleine roedeverdeling en 15-ruits roedeverdeling. De torens zijn voorzien van een rond houten venster met 7-ruits roedeverdeling, twee segmentboogvormige houten venstertjes met 6-ruits roedeverdeling, segmentboogvormig houten H-venster met horizontale roedeverdeling en 18-ruits bovenlicht, segmentboogvormige dubbele houten deuren voorzien van een bovenlicht met opengewerkte bakstenen boogfriezen.

Volledig symmetrische architectuur, gedomineerd door de twee torens in drie bouwlagen. Hiertussen bevindt zich een gevelvlak van twee bouwlagen met vijf venstertraveeën, aan weerszijden van elke toren een gevelvlak met drie venstertraveeën.
Het geheel kenmerkt zich door een bakstenen optrek met geprofileerde plint, incl. hardstenen lijst; hoeklisenen; gele bakstenen speklagen; hardstenen dorpels; gestucte gevellijsten met opschrift. De torens zijn gedecoreerd met een rondboogfries op kraagstenen, en met een borstwering met kantelen. In elke toren bevinden zich vier gevelstenen, die gezamenlijk het opschrift: "AN-NO-19-12" vormen. In de frontgevel tussen de eerste en tweede bouwlaag enkele gepleisterde gevelvlakken met in het middelste vlak het opschrift "KREATIEF CENTRUM C.C.V." Frontgevel bekroond met een balustrade in baksteen, deels met hardstenen afdekking. De zijgeveldelen in twee bouwlagen tellen negen traveeÙn waarvan zes met segmentboogvormige vensters, en een travee met in de eerste bouwlaag een deur in een segmentboogvormige vensteromlijsting.
Dit geveldeel met deur is iets vooruitspringend en heeft in de tweede bouwlaag een rondboogvormig glas in lood venster met een verticale tracering in baksteen. Dit geveldeel wordt bekroond met een balustrade in baksteen.
De zijgeveldelen in een bouwlaag en de verbindende vleugel, hebben rechthoekige houten vensters in een segmentboogvormige baksteen omlijsting. Speklagen in gele baksteen. Hardstenen dorpelstenen.
De rechterzijgevel is deels gepleisterd, en deels voorzien van een naoorlogse aanbouw.
De indeling van interieur is nog grotendeels intact. Van het INTERIEUR is onder meer van belang: gangen met granito vloeren deels met mozaïekranden; oorspronkelijke deuren met hang- en sluitwerk; trappenhuizen met granito-treden en smeedijzeren leuningen met houten armlegger, in de buitengevels van deze trappenhuizen de rondboogvormige glas-in-lood vensters.
Aan de straatzijde bakstenen kolommen met hardstenen afdekking met hiertussen een halfhoge bakstenen muur met hierop een smeedijzeren hekwerk. Een poortopening. Aan de straatzijde eveneens een bijbouw van de school. Deze bijbouw in een bouwlaag wordt afgedekt met een plat dak en heeft rechthoekige houten vensters met segmentboogvormige bovenlichten. Bovenlichten geaccentueerd met decoratief metselwerk in gele baksteen.
Waardering
De voormalige St.Servatiusschool bezit cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere uitdrukking van een maatschappelijke en typologische ontwikkeling. Daarnaast is de school vanwege de eclectische bouwstijl van waarde voor de geschiedenis van de architectuur, kan men spreken van een hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteit en een opmerkelijk vorm van materiaalgebruik en ornamentiek.
Uit oogpunt van ensemblewaarden is de school van belang als onderdeel van het stadsgezicht Maastricht en vanwege de situering, die verbonden is met de uitbreiding van de stad. Als zodanig is de school ook belangrijk voor het aanzien van het omliggende stadsdeel.
De school beschikt voor wat betreft het exterieur en een deel van het interieur over een hoge mate van architectonische gaafheid en is van belang in relatie tot de visuele gaafheid van de stedelijke omgeving.
Tenslotte kan men spreken van een redelijke architectuurhistorische en typologische zeldzaamheid.

The side façade sections in two storeys have nine bays of which six with segmental arch-shaped windows, and one bay with in the first storey a door in a segmental arch-shaped window surround.
This façade section with door is slightly projecting and has in the second storey a round arch-shaped lead light window with a vertical tracery in brick. This façade section is crowned with a brick balustrade.
The side façade sections in one storey and the connecting wing have rectangular wooden windows in a segmental arch-shaped brick surround. Banding in yellow brick. Stone sills.
The right-side façade is partly plastered, and partly provided with a post-war extension.
The interior layout is still largely intact. Of the INTERIOR the following is of importance among others: corridors with granito floors partly with mosaic borders; original doors with hinges and locks; staircases with granito steps and wrought-iron railings with wooden armrest, in the outer façades of these staircases the round arch-shaped lead light windows.
On the street side brick columns with stone coping with between them a half-height brick wall with wrought-iron railing. A gate opening. On the street side also an outbuilding of the school.
