Inleiding
In 1925-1926 op bestaande paalfunderingen opgetrokken CONCIERGEWONING met bovenhuis in Amsterdamse School-stijl, oorspronkelijk behorende tot het Meisjeslyceum aan de Reijnier Vinkeleskade 62 (thans een scholengemeenschap voor HAVO en MAVO), naar een ontwerp van de toenmalige dienst Publieke Werken in opdracht van de gemeente Amsterdam. De woning ligt naast een steeg (welke oorspronkelijk werd afgesloten door een poort) die functioneert als toegang tot het schoolplein, achter bovengenoemde school.
Omschrijving
Op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder een plat dak met geornamenteerde terracotta daklijst opgetrokken terracotta-kleurige bakstenen conciërgewoning op een zwarte bakstenen plint. Het gearticuleerde, bolvormige bouwvolume boven de ingang, welke boven de daklijst uitkraagt, eindigt in een terracotta muizetand als daklijst. De woning bestaat uit drie bouwlagen. In de uit twee traveeën bestaande gevel aan de Heinzestraat zijn de vensters voor het grootste deel van verschillend formaat en ten opzichte van elkaar sprongsgewijs in de gevel geplaatst. Ze zijn door brede houten roeden verticaal onderverdeeld doch de horizontale verdeling geschiedt door smalle, eveneens houten roeden. Op de hoek lopen de vensters door naar de gevelzijde aan de steeg. Onder de daklijst zijn op onregelmatige afstanden van elkaar gemetselde ventilatieroosters in de gevel geplaatst.
De diepgelegen ingang, bereikbaar via een gemetselde stoep en ter linkerzijde geflankeerd door een vanaf vensterhoogte beginnende zwarte bakstenen halfzuil, bestaat uit twee houten deuren.
Zijgevel bestaande uit drie traveeën op zwarte bakstenen plint met links naast de ingang een gemetselde pilaster boven het dak uitlopend in schoorsteen met terracotta bekroning.
Tweeruits vensters met horizontale roedenverdeling. Ingang in middentravee eveneens door houten roeden onderverdeeld. Een met terracotta afgewerkte daklijst. In de linkertravee bakstenen ventilatieroosters.
Achtergevel met drie- en vierlichtvensters met bovenlichten horizontaal onderverdeeld.
Waardering
Conciërgewoning met bovenhuis van architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege de vormgeving en detaillering in de expressieve variant van de Amsterdamse School-stijl. Tevens van typologisch belang als gaaf voorbeeld van een conciërgewoning behorende bij een school.

CONCIERGE DWELLING with apartment above, built in 1925-1926 on existing timber piling foundations in Amsterdam School style, originally belonging to the Girls' Grammar School at Reijnier Vinkeleskade 62 (now a school group for HAVO and MAVO), according to a design by the then Municipal Public Works Department commissioned by the Municipality of Amsterdam. The dwelling is situated next to an alley (which was originally closed by a gate) that functions as access to the school playground, behind the aforementioned school.
Description
Concierge dwelling erected on a rectangular ground plan beneath a flat roof with ornamented terracotta roof moulding, constructed from terracotta-coloured brick on a black brick plinth. The articulated, curved volume above the entrance, which projects above the roof line, terminates in a terracotta dentil moulding as roof line. The dwelling consists of three storeys. In the facade on Heinzestraat, consisting of two bays, the windows are for the most part of different sizes and are positioned offset in relation to each other in the facade. They are subdivided vertically by broad wooden glazing bars but the horizontal subdivision is effected by narrow, likewise wooden glazing bars. At the corner the windows extend through to the gable side on the alley. Under the roof moulding masonry ventilation grilles are placed in the facade at irregular intervals from each other.
The recessed entrance, accessible via a masonry stoep and flanked on the left side by a black brick half-column beginning at window height, consists of two wooden doors.
Side facade consisting of three bays on black brick plinth with to the left of the entrance a masonry pilaster extending above the roof terminating in a chimney with terracotta capping.
Two-light windows with horizontal glazing bar subdivision. Entrance in middle bay likewise subdivided by wooden glazing bars. A roof moulding finished with terracotta. Masonry ventilation grilles in the left bay.
Rear facade with three- and four-light windows with fanlights subdivided horizontally.
Evaluation
Concierge dwelling with apartment above of architectural-historical importance due to the design and detailing in the expressive variant of Amsterdam School style. Also of typological importance as an intact example of a concierge dwelling belonging to a school.
