Inleiding
Rechter woonhuis (W) van een reeks van drie geschakelde herenhuizen onder één kap in rationalische stijl in 1912 ontworpen door J.F. Staal ten behoeve van J. Vegersteen en D.R. Nienaber.
Serre aan de zijgevel dateert uit 1919 en is ontworpen door H. Elte en G.F. Mastenbroek.
Omschrijving
Het geheel is opgebouwd op een min of meer rechthoekige plattegrond. Het woonhuis wordt afgedekt door een rood pannen schilddak met dakkapellen en is onderverdeeld in sousterrain, hoofdverdieping en bovenverdieping met een rechte gevelbeëindiging. Erkeruitbouw over sousterrain en hoofdverdieping met bovenliggend balkon.
Balkon heeft borstwering bestaande uit ijzeren hekwerk waartussen opgemetselde steunpunten. Ingang met houten, rondboogvormige deur, is via een trap bereikbaar. Boven portiek tegeldecoratie.
In het bakstenen gebouw met natuurstenen profileringen zijn de vensters met houten schuiframen doorgaans per drieën evenwichtig over de gehele gevel verdeeld.
In rechter zijgevel ronde serre-uitbouw. Alleen de bovenlichten in de serre zijn voorzien van glas-in-lood ramen.
Waardering
Het herenhuis is van algemeen belang wegens architectuurhistorische en typologische waarde als voorbeeld van luxe herenhuisbebouwing uit de vroeg 20ste eeuwen de gaafheid van het exterieur.
Tevens van belang wegens ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van een stedebouwkundig geheel, het enige in Amsterdam voorkomende villapark, nabij het Vondelpark.

Description
The whole is built on a more or less rectangular ground plan. The townhouse is covered by a red tile hipped roof with roof dormers and is subdivided into basement, principal floor and upper floor with a straight facade termination. Bay window extension over basement and principal floor with overlying balcony.
Balcony has balustrade consisting of iron railwork with built-in support points between. Entrance with wooden, round-arched door, is accessible via stairs. Above porch tile decoration.
In the brick building with natural stone mouldings the windows with wooden sash frames are generally distributed in threes evenly across the entire facade.
