Op een rechthoekige grondvorm in opdracht van Rochdale opgetrokken gesloten bakstenen bouwblok van ETAGEWONINGEN, begrensd door Bertelmanplein, Bertelmanstraat, Des Presstraat, Pieter Lastmankade en Bernard Kochstraat, bestaande uit drie bouwlagen onder zadeldaken met rode pannen met op regelmatige afstand van elkaar geplaatste gemetselde schoorstenen. Op de hoek van Bertelmanstraat en Des Presstraat een over alle verdiepingen omhooglopende driehoekige erker. De andere drie hoeken zijn voorzien van een steunbeer. Tevens een brede erker met steunberen in de gevels aan de Bernard Kochstraat en de Bertelmanstraat. Op de plekken waar deze erkers zijn geplaatst is het daarboven gelegen gevelvlak hoger opgemetseld. De beganegrond is in een donkerder kleur steen gemetseld. Enkele entrees aan de korte zijden van het bouwblok liggen in een rondboogvormige portiek.
Sommige vensters, welke alle regelmatig in de gevels zijn geplaatst, zijn voorzien van door roeden laddervormig onderverdeelde zijlichten. In oorsprong waren alle vensters voorzien van een houten roedenverdeling. De entrees bevatten houten beglaasde deuren met hardstenen stoep.

Bouwblok met etagewoningen van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde alsmede van belang vanwege de stedenbouwkundige en ensemble waarde als beeldbepalend onderdeel van een uit 7 bouwblokken bestaand woningbouwcomplex en tevens karakteristieke NW begrenzing van het plan Zuid II van Berlage.

Description
On a rectangular ground plan commissioned by Rochdale, closed brick building block of FLATS, bounded by Bertelmanplein, Bertelmanstraat, Des Presstraat, Pieter Lastmankade and Bernard Kochstraat, consisting of three storeys under gabled roofs with red tiles with regularly spaced built chimneys. On the corner of Bertelmanstraat and Des Presstraat a triangular bay window running up over all storeys. The other three corners are provided with a buttress. Also a wide bay window with buttresses in the facades at Bernard Kochstraat and Bertelmanstraat. On the places where these bay windows are placed the facade surface located above is built up higher. The ground floor is built in a darker coloured stone. Some entrances on the short sides of the building block are located in a semicircular archway porch.
Some windows, which are all regularly placed in the facades, are provided with ladder-shaped divided side windows by glazing bars. Originally all windows were provided with a wooden glazing bar subdivision. The entrances contain wooden glazed doors with stone step.
