Inleiding

Description
Introduction
PARSONAGE from 1883, built by J. van Groenendael. The parsonage belongs to the Roman Catholic Sint Ursulakerk (1872-1873) located to the north of it, which is already a national monument under monument number 38277.
The parsonage incorporates elements of Romanesque (arch friezes) and Renaissance in its eclectic architecture. The building is situated on the corner of Dorpsstraat and Pastoor Willemsestraat, with the front facade facing west. A relatively shallow front garden separates the house from the road, whilst on the rear side (east) there is a spacious wooded garden.
Description
The block-shaped building consists of two storeys beneath a hipped roof, which at front and rear transitions to half-hipped roofs with chimneys at the roof ridge ends. The half-hipped roofs are tiled with slate.
The front facade is constructed of purple-tinted brick in stretcher bond, the side facades of lighter red stone in half-brick bond.
The symmetrical facade is divided into five bays by means of two sets of two window axes with a central risalit between them. The latter continues over the entire height of the facade and contains on the ground floor the entrance section with a porch, closed off by a round arch on colonnettes, with above it an ornamental cartouche with the date 1883. The modern door in the newly tiled small porch is reached via three hardstone steps. The facade is bounded at the corners by brick pilasters which continue to the eaves.
On the ground floor the windows have a centre mullion and divided fanlight with leaded glass, topped by pressed brick arches with soffits. The spandrels are filled with patterns of glazed, coloured brick. Decorative wrought-iron wall anchors are placed on either side. The windows with hardstone sub-sill are connected to each other by three limestone decorative bands. The first floor has the same articulation as the ground floor.
On either side of the central risalit the front facade is closed off by arch friezes, with above them the cornice forming a crenellated edge.
The central risalit contains on the first floor a window similar to the others with above it in a blind arch an image of the Good Shepherd. The risalit, which pierces the gutter moulding, ends in a trapezoidal shape and is closed off by a bell-cote.
On the north side the building is connected to the church by a passage. In the north facade there are four windows at different levels.
The right side facade (south) also has windows of the same type as in the front facade, now on three levels, all likewise connected by limestone bands.
Against the rear facade (east) a bay window has been built; beside it is a large window. The first floor has three windows of the same type as in the front facade.
Valuation
The building is of general importance because of its architectural and cultural-historical value as an eclectic Roman Catholic parsonage dating from 1883. The parsonage also possesses ensemble value together with the associated and adjacent Sint Ursulakerk belonging to the parsonage.
