The register's description

Introduction DWELLING HOUSE in eclectic style, situated on the north side of the Raadhuisstraat. The dwelling house was built in 1870 according to a stone date on the east facade. Around 1905 a conservatory with Art Nouveau decoration was added to the east side. The dwelling house was built as a parsonage with the Dutch Reformed church. Description Dwelling house built on an almost square ground plan, partly cellared and consisting of two storeys with a hipped roof. The hipped roof is covered with a black flat Frisian tile with diamond-shaped decoration. On both ridge points is a brick chimney. The hip rafters are covered with lead. The rectangular building volume of the dwelling house has a decorated cornice-topped facade (S) with main architrave and rusticated corner pilasters. The facade contains five window bays. The middle bay contains the entrance with hard stone stoep. The entrance is emphasized by two vertically articulated pilasters. Above the double panel door with fanlight of the entrance is a balcony with balustrade resting on worked consoles. The masonry is built up in red brick. The aforementioned pilasters and the eyebrows above the windows are plastered. The plinth at the front is in hard stone, the remaining sides have a cemented plinth. The eyebrows follow the arch pressed downward in the middle of the upper side of the window openings. The window openings contain sash windows. The left side (W) has a rectangular six-pane sash window on the ground floor and a round iron window with glazing bars on the upper storey. The rear side (N) has three window bays which contain a door on the ground floor and further only six-pane sash windows. The right side (E) has on the upper storey two basket-arch windows, both with eyebrow. The conservatory (ground floor) is rectangular with chamfered corners and is closed off by roof shields covered with red slate tiles with carved gutter line. The elevation of the conservatory consists of rectangular timber framing filled with glass from knee height. Below this is curved wooden framework. The fanlights of the conservatory have leaded glass with floral motif. The interior still contains a number of original components. These are among others the stucco ceilings in the vestibule, the room to the east of it (living room) and the conservatory, connected to the living room by two sliding doors (ground glass and in fanlights leaded glass with floral motif); a marble mantel in the living room; panels executed in papier-mâché with floral motif in the conservatory. Valuation The dwelling house is of general importance from a cultural and architectural-historical point of view as a well-preserved example of a voornaam 19th-century dwelling house in the countryside. The object has situational value through its image-determining position in the village centre.
