Inleiding Voormalig TRANSFORMATORSTATION, gebouwd in 1943 in opdracht van de Duitse bezetter ten behoeve van de stroomvoorziening van de Atlantikwall in de kop van Noord-Holland. Het tegen luchtaanvallen versterkte object staat ten westen van de spoorlijn Alkmaar-Den Helder naast het terrein van het Provinciaal Electriciteitsbedrijf van Noord-Holland. Omschrijving Op vierkant grondplan gebouwd en min of meer kubusvormig transformatorstation met hoge rechthoekige ingang aan de westzijde en hoog in het muurwerk aan noord-, oost- en zuidzijde openingen ten behoeve van kabelaansluitingen. Het volumineuze object is gegoten in gewapend beton met een dikte van twee meter. De bovenzijden van het object zijn afgeschuind. In de vloer van het object bevindt zich een bak waarboven op vloerhoogte een stalen rooster ligt. Hierop stond in oorsprong de transformator. De binnenzijde is verder een open ruimte van vloer tot plafond. Waardering Het versterkte voormalige transformatorstation is van algemeen belang uit cultuur- en architectuurhistorisch oogpunt als zeldzaam geworden onderdeel uit de energievoorziening van de Atlantikwall.

Description
Introduction Former TRANSFORMER STATION, built in 1943 on the orders of the German occupier for the purpose of electricity supply for the Atlantikwall in the tip of North Holland. The object, reinforced against air attacks, stands west of the Alkmaar-Den Helder railway line next to the site of the Provincial Electricity Company of North Holland. Description A transformer station built on a square ground plan and more or less cubic in form with a high rectangular entrance on the west side and high openings in the masonry on the north, east and south sides for cable connections. The voluminous object is cast in reinforced concrete with a thickness of two metres. The top sides of the object are bevelled. In the floor of the object is a tank above which at floor level lies a steel grating. On this originally stood the transformer. The interior is otherwise an open space from floor to ceiling. Evaluation The reinforced former transformer station is of general importance from a cultural and architectural-historical perspective as a rarely preserved component of the electricity supply for the Atlantikwall.
