Inleiding
Half vrijstaand woonhuis "De Zandloper", in 1931 gebouwd naar ontwerp van D. Roosenburg in Interbellum-architectuur, aanvankelijk bewoond door havendirecteur Kuyck en daarna in gebruik als bediendenwoning bij "Het Wooldhuis". In 1973 is de eerste verdieping aan de west- en noordzijde uitgebreid. Deze uitbreiding komt niet voor bescherming in aanmerking.
Omschrijving
Het woonhuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond, is vier verdiepingen en een kap hoog en opgetrokken in rode baksteen.
De voorgevel aan de boulevard is een asymmetrische topgevel, aan de rechter zijde aan het buurpand grenzend en aan de linker zijde, overeenkomstig het erbij aansluitende dakvlak, schuin aflopend. Op de begane grond (souterrain) de houten voordeur onder een rondboog en drie kleine raampjes. De bel etage bevat boven de voordeur een gedenksteen met de tekst "De Zandloper", daarboven een rond venster en rechts een horizontaal venster met vernieuwde kozijnen en een borstwering met siermetselwerk. Op de tweede en op de derde verdieping een horizontaal houten venster en een borstwering met siermetselwerk. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een overhangende houten dakgoot, met daarboven een wolfeind.
De westelijke zijgevel is op de begane grond een blinde gevel en op de bel etage bevindt zich de nieuwe, zwevende aanbouw op pilonen uit 1973, die niet voor bescherming in aanmerking komt. In het dakvlak een rechthoekige, bakstenen schoorsteen.
De achtergevel (noord) is op de bel etage voorzien van genoemde aanbouw uit 1973. Op de tweede verdieping een balkondeur, die aan beide zijden geflankeerd wordt door een venster met horizontale roedeverdeling en rechts daarvan een venster, eveneens met horizontale roeden. De bovenste verdieping bevat drie gekoppelde vensters met horizontale roeden. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een overhangende daklijst. Het woonhuis heeft een asymmetrische, gebroken kap die aan de voor- en achterzijde is afgewolfd en gedekt is met rode holle pannen.
In het interieur is grotendeels de oorspronkelijke indeling gehandhaafd; voorts zijn onder meer de entree met tochtdeuren, het trappehuis en originele deuren van belang.
Waardering
Woonhuis, van architectuurhistorisch belang als vertegenwoordiger van de Interbellum- architectuur en van ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van het complex.

Introduction
Half-detached residential house "De Zandloper", built in 1931 after design by D. Roosenburg in Interwar architecture, initially inhabited by harbour director Kuyck and subsequently used as a servants' house for "Het Wooldhuis". Description
The residential house has a rectangular ground plan, is four storeys and attic high and constructed in red brick.
The front facade on the boulevard is an asymmetrical stepped gable, adjoining the neighbouring building on the right side and on the left side, in accordance with the adjoining roof plane, sloping down diagonally. On the ground floor (basement) the wooden front door under a round arch and three small windows. The piano nobile contains above the front door a memorial stone with the text "De Zandloper", above this a circular window and to the right a horizontal window with renewed frames and a coping with ornamental brickwork. On the second and on the third storey a horizontal wooden window and a coping with ornamental brickwork. The facade is concluded by an overhanging wooden roof gutter, above which a half-hipped roof.
The western side facade is a blind facade on the ground floor and on the piano nobile there is located the new, suspended extension on pillars from 1973, which is not eligible for protection. In the roof plane a rectangular, brick chimney.
The rear facade (north) is on the piano nobile provided with said extension from 1973. On the second upper storey a balcony door, which is flanked on both sides by a window with horizontal glazing bars and to the right thereof a window, likewise with horizontal glazing bars. The top storey contains three coupled windows with horizontal glazing bars. The facade is concluded by an overhanging roof moulding. The residential house has an asymmetrical, broken roof that is arched on the front and rear sides and covered with red curved tiles.
In the interior the original layout has been largely maintained; furthermore the entrance with draught doors, the staircase and original doors are of importance.
Valuation
Residential house, of architectural historical importance as a representative of Interwar architecture and of ensemble value as a component of the complex.
