Voormalig HOTEL-RESTAURANT Aachener Hof, 1903, in eclectische stijl. Hoekpand met een dominante plaats in de lineaire bebouwingsstructuur van de Maastrichterlaan.
Omschrijving
Drie bouwlagen plus souterrain en zolderverdieping op een plattegrond met afgeschuinde hoekpartij. Het geheel wordt gedekt door een afgeplatte mansardekap met rode beverstaarten, bakgoten en dakkapellen; de dakkapellen hebben een overstek op consoles en een houten beschot.
De gevels aan weerszijden van de hoekpartij tellen elk vijf vensterassen. Plint in imitatie-rustica met souterrainvensters en gestucte optrek met Florentijnse vensterbogen in de eerste bouwlaag. Tussen de eerste en tweede bouwlaag bevindt zich een aanzienlijke gestucte gevellijst met guirlandes en balusters. De tweede en derde bouwlaag zijn opgetrokken in baksteen en voorzien van gestucte vensterlijsten. Speklagen. De lijsten van de tweede laag worden bekroond door stucfrontons met sierstucwerk in de tympanen. In de hoekpartij een erker met balkon, balusters, een rechthoekig dubbel houten T-venster in een lijst met zuilornamenten en een grote sluitsteen met bouwjaaraanduiding. Deze afgeschuinde hoekpartij loopt uit in een halsgevel met klauwstukken, rondboogvenster, gestuct rondboogtympaan en een gestucte guirlande. Boven de entree aan de Maastrichterlaan is het balkon, inclusief de consoles, verwijderd.
Segmentboogvormige houten vensters en deuren met bovenlicht in de eerste bouwlaag, aan de zijde van de Bosstraat nog voorzien van de oorspronkelijke verticale indeling; rechthoekige houten T-vensters in de tweede en derde laag; rechthoekig, dubbel houten T-venster in de erker, rechthoekige verticaal gelede houten balkondeur, rondboogvormig houten T-venster in de topgevel.

Hierin zijn onder meer van belang de met marmermozaïeken ingelegde terrazzovloeren, de veelal dubbele paneeldeuren in lijsten, de gangaanzet met gestucte vrouwehoofden in de consoles, devrijwel identiek versierde plafondconsoles in het restaurantgedeelte, de stucrozetten en stuclijsten in de woonvertrekken, de stucornamenten van het trappehuis en de bewerkte houten trapbalustrade.
Waardering
Hotel-restaurant Aachener Hof is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling. De architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door de bouwstijl, de hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp, het materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek. Description
Three storeys plus basement and attic storey on a floor plan with chamfered corner section. The whole is covered by a flattened mansard roof with red bevelled tiles, roof gutters and roof dormers; the roof dormers have an overhang on consoles and wooden cladding.
The facades on either side of the corner section each have five window bays. Plinth in imitation rustica with basement windows and stuccoed finish with Florentine window arches on the first storey. Between the first and second storey there is a substantial stuccoed facade cornice with garlands and balusters. The second and third storeys are constructed in brick and provided with stuccoed window surrounds. Speckled courses. The surrounds of the second storey are crowned by stucco pediments with decorative stuccowork in the tympana. In the corner section a bay window with balcony, balusters, a rectangular double wooden T-window in a surround with column ornaments and a large keystone with date inscription. This chamfered corner section rises into a neck gable with clawed brackets, round-arched window, stuccoed round-arched tympanum and a stuccoed garland. Above the entrance on the Maastrichterlaan, the balcony, including the consoles, has been removed.
Segment-arched wooden windows and doors with fanlight on the first storey, on the Bosstraat side still provided with the original vertical glazing bars; rectangular wooden T-windows on the second and third storeys; rectangular, double wooden T-window in the bay window, rectangular vertically glazed wooden balcony door, round-arched wooden T-window in the top gable.
The former hotel-restaurant Aachener Hof has a richly decorated INTERIOR whose layout is largely intact. This includes notably the terrazzo floors inlaid with marble mosaics, the mostly double panel doors in surrounds, the corridor entrance with stuccoed female heads in the consoles, the almost identically decorated ceiling consoles in the restaurant section, the stucco rosettes and stucco surrounds in the living rooms, the stucco ornaments of the staircase and the worked wooden stair balustrade.
