Introduction VILLA, consisting of three independent units, situated in a row of detached villas on the south side of the Heresingel, built in 1893 on behalf of the van Beeten family after a design by Groningen architect P.M.A. Huurman in a fine and richly decorated, eclectic architectural style. The three-sided, stuccoed extension to the rear facade of no. 7 dates from the nineteen-twenties. The central bay on the north side is continued through the gable wall and is finished high with a truncated hipped roof-cap. The east side of the bay is chamfered. This side is provided on the attic storey with a rectangular oriel on scrollwork consoles with cherub heads. The remaining roof slopes bear dormer windows with pediments, tympana and scrollwork sides and acanthus and foliate ornaments. The facades are finished with a gutter moulding, draped in meander form around the windows. The rear facade possesses on the top storey of nos. 9 and 11 the original windows with stucco framing. Internally the original structure and arrangement and decoration have been reasonably well preserved.
