Inleiding HAVENKANTOOR MET WOONHUIS, gesitueerd in de nagenoeg gesloten westelijke gevelwand van de Westerhaven op de hoek met de Lissabonstraat, gebouwd in 1910 in opdracht van Provinciale Waterstaat in Overgangsarchitectuur. Na het dempen van de Westerhaven in 1962 verloor het gebouw zijn functie als havenkantoor. Het gebouw is thans in gebruik als woonhuis. Omschrijving Het gebouw is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt twee bouwlagen onder een mansardedak, bekleed met dakleer en op de nok een zinken piron. De voorgevel is boven de natuurstenen borstwering opgetrokken uit roodbruine baksteen en wordt verticaal geleed door bakstenen lisenen over twee bouwlagen met bewerkte natuurstenen toppen. De raamtravee heeft op de begane grond drie rechtgesloten vensters, van elkaar gescheiden door smalle muurdammen, met bovenlichten met een roedeverdeling en natuurstenen lateien. Dit travee is opgemetseld tot een ingezwenkte topgevel waarin een reeks van vijf smalle vensters en bekroond met een gebogen natuurstenen top. Boven het middenste venster een natuurstenen cartouche. In de ingangstravee twee gepaarde houten deuren met natuurstenen kalf en bovenlichten met glas-in-lood. Op de verdieping bevinden zich vijf rechtgesloten vensters met natuurstenen lateien. Waardering HAVENKANTOOR MET WOONHUIS, gebouwd in een rond de eeuwwisseling gangbare Overgangsarchitectuur, van algemeen belang vanwege zijn cultuurhistorische en architectuurhistorische waarde en vanwege zijn gaafheid, alsmede vanwege zijn betekenis voor de sociaal-economische ontwikkelingsgeschiedenis van dit (voormalige) havengebied in Groningen.

Introduction HARBOUR OFFICE WITH RESIDENCE, situated in the nearly closed western gable facade of the Westerhaven on the corner with the Lissabonstraat, built in 1910 on commission of the Provincial Water Authority in Transitional Architecture. After the Westerhaven was filled in in 1962, the building lost its function as a harbour office. The building is currently in use as a residence. Description The building is constructed on a rectangular plan and comprises two storeys under a mansard roof, clad with roofing felt and with a zinc crest at the ridge. The front facade above the natural stone parapet is constructed of reddish-brown brick and is vertically articulated by brick pilasters over two storeys with worked natural stone tops. The window bay has on the ground floor three square-closed windows, separated from each other by narrow wall piers, with fanlights with glazing bars and natural stone lintels. This bay is built up to a recessed gable in which a series of five narrow windows and crowned with a curved natural stone top. Above the middle window a natural stone cartouche. In the entrance bay two paired wooden doors with natural stone corbel and fanlights with stained glass. On the upper storey there are five square-closed windows with natural stone lintels. Valuation HARBOUR OFFICE WITH RESIDENCE, built in Transitional Architecture current around the turn of the century, of general interest on account of its cultural-historical and architectural-historical value and on account of its integrity, as well as on account of its significance for the socio-economic development history of this (former) harbour area in Groningen.
