Inleiding WINKELWONING, onderdeel uitmakend van een woningcomplex gesitueerd in de westelijke gevelwand van de Oppenheimstraat, gelegen op de hoek van een terugliggend bouwblok, dat de overgang markeert naar de pleinvormige ruimte in het midden van de Oppenheimstraat; gebouwd in 1933 naar ontwerp van de Groninger architect J.A. Boer in een expressionistische bouwstijl met elementen van de Nieuwe Zakelijkheid. Het gebouw is thans in gebruik als kamerverhuur. Beschrijving Het gebouw is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond met een afgeschuinde hoek en telt drie bouwlagen onder een plat dak. De gevels zijn van roodbruine baksteen opgemetseld; het rechter geveldeel is voorzien van een verticaal, stalen venster dat over beide verdiepingen doorloopt. Dit van een verfijnde roedeverdeling voorziene venster wordt afgesloten door een dubbele houten daklijst met overstek. De winkelpui op de begane grond is van staal en glas en wordt afgesloten door een dubbele betonnen latei. Introduction SHOP-DWELLING, forming part of a housing complex situated in the western facade of the Oppenheimstraat, located on the corner of a set-back building block, which marks the transition to the square-shaped space in the middle of the Oppenheimstraat; built in 1933 according to a design by Groningen architect J.A. Boer in an expressionistic building style with elements of the Nieuwe Zakelijkheid. The building is currently in use as a room rental property. Description The building is erected on a rectangular floor plan with a chamfered corner and has three storeys under a flat roof. The facades are built of reddish-brown brick; the right part of the facade is provided with a vertical steel window that runs through both floors. This window, fitted with refined glazing bars, is closed by a double wooden roof edge with overhang. The shop front on the ground floor is steel and glass and is closed by a double concrete lintel. Above the shop door a semi-circular concrete canopy; the door is flanked by semi-circular concrete pilasters which pass through the lintels above. The middle section on the chamfered corner has on the first and second floors a bay window lying in the facade plane with leaded glass fanlights and small internal balconies. Through the articulation of alternating chamfered and right-angled elements, a distinctly designed corner building has been created.
