Inleiding WOONHUIS, gesitueerd aan de noordzijde van de Willemstraat naast een ouder woningbouwcomplex uit 1866-1867 en daarvan gescheiden door een smalle gang, gebouwd in 1897 in opdracht van F. Hesse in een aardig versierdeambachtelijk-traditionele bouwstijl met eclectische stijlkenmerken. Het interieur is van ondergeschikt belang; de overdekte gang langs de oostgevel is niet van rijkswege beschermenswaardig. Het gebouw is thans nog in gebruik als woonhuis. Omschrijving Het gebouw is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt één bouwlaag met zolderverdieping onder een afgeknot schilddak, belegd met een zwart geglazuurde platte Friese pan. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een houten gootlijst met geprofileerde bakgoot, onderbroken door een gestucte kajuit met T-venster. De kajuit heeft aan weerszijden stuc wangen en is bekroond met een driehoekig fronton. De voorgevel is opgetrokken uit rode baksteen boven een gepleisterde plint en is verlevendigd met gestucte hoekblokken en stuc dorpelbanden. In de voorgevel op de begane grond bevindt zich een groot driedelig venster met glas-in-loodbovenlichten en geprofileerd stuc lijstwerk; het middelste venster is iets verhoogd en bekroond met een stuc kroonlijst en gebogen tympaan met sluitsteen. De ingang in de oostelijke zijgevel bestaat uit een rijk bewerkte houten paneeldeur met glas-in-lood bovenlicht. Introduction RESIDENTIAL HOUSE, situated on the north side of Willemstraat next to an older housing complex from 1866-1867 and separated from it by a narrow passage, built in 1897 on commission of F. Hesse in a nicely decorated craft-traditional building style with eclectic stylistic features. The interior is of secondary importance; the covered passage along the east facade is not worthy of protection by the national heritage authority. The building is currently still in use as a residential house. Description The building is constructed on a rectangular floor plan and comprises one storey with an attic storey under a truncated hipped roof, covered with black glazed flat Frisian tiles. The facade is finished with a wooden gutter with profiled rainwater gutter, interrupted by a stuccoed cabin with a T-window. The cabin has stuccoed cheeks on either side and is crowned with a triangular pediment. The front facade is built of red brick above a plastered plinth and is enlivened with stuccoed corner blocks and stucco sill bands. In the front facade on the ground floor is a large three-part window with leaded glass fanlights and profiled stucco moulding; the middle window is slightly raised and crowned with a stucco cornice and curved tympanum with keystone.
