Inleiding
Aan drie zijden vrijstaand herenhuis uit 1875, gebouwd in opdracht van Johannes Jacobus Blanckenhagen in eclectische bouwstijl.
De tot parkeerplaats verharde tuin aan de achterzijde wordt omgeven door een bakstenen tuinmuur.
Omschrijving
Herenhuis op nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond, bestaande uit souterrain, drie bouwlagen en een mezzanino onder een met shingles gedekt afgeknot schilddak, vijf vensterassen breed.
De ondergevel is aan de voorkant met natuursteen bekleed - ter hoogte van de eerste bouwlaag gebosseerd -, en wordt afgesloten door een tot kroonlijst uitgewerkte waterlijst met tand- en eierlijsten. Daarboven is de gevel gepleisterd met ingekraste groeven. De vensters zijn per bouwlaag verschillend; op de eerste schuiframen, op de tweede T- vormige schuifvensters en op de derde stolpramen. Ze zijn licht getoogd, en op de tweede en derde bouwlaag voorzien van gepleisterde omlijstingen en ornamenten. De mezzanino bevat in het fries van de gootlijst dubbele vierkante vensters, omlijst door pilasters. De souterrainramen zijn voorzien van ijzeren roosters.
In de risalerende middenas is de ingang gesitueerd, bestaande uit dubbele paneeldeuren waarin twee ronde vensters, en een rondboog bovenlicht. De ingang is omgeven door een natuurstenen omlijsting met bladornamenten in de zwikken en rondom eier- en kraallijsten. Hierboven bevindt zich een balkon met gietijzeren balustrade van acanthusbladeren en jachtfiguren, rustend op gebeeldhouwde voluutconsoles met leeuwekoppen. De ornamentiek van de balustrade is ook toegepast onder de twee vensters aan weerszijden van het balkon. De balkondeuren worden omlijst door dubbele korintische pilasters en een licht getoogde kroonlijst. Het stolpraam daarboven is voorzien van een gepleisterde voluutomlijsting. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een gootlijst op klossen, een tandlijstje en rechthoekige panelen in het fries; de middenas wordt bekroond door een segmentvormig fronton, waarin een oculus.
De achter- en zijgevel zijn gepleisterd met ingekraste groeven en afgesloten door een identieke gootlijst als de voorgevel. De zijgevel bevat zes vensterassen, deels als blinde nissen uitgevoerd. De middenas is licht risalerend uitgebouwd. De waterlijst tussen eerste en tweede bouwlaag is voorzien van een Vitruvische krul.
Toegang tot het souterrain biedt een dubbele paneeldeur met gietijzeren roosters, gesitueerd onder een luifel. Het twee assen brede rechterdeel van de achtergevel is als risaliet uitgebouwd, met in het midden een smalle uitgebouwde schacht. Op de eerste bouwlaag is een serre over de volle breedte aangebouwd, rustend op gepleisterde pilaren. Daaronder is het souterrain.

Townhouse on nearly square plan, consisting of basement, three storeys and a mezzanine under a roof covered with shingles, an abbreviated hipped roof, five window axes wide.
The lower facade is clad at the front with natural stone - at the height of the first storey with bosses -, and is finished with a drip moulding developed into a cornice with tooth and egg mouldings. Above this the facade is plastered with incised grooves. The windows vary per storey; on the first sash windows, on the second T-shaped sash windows and on the third casement windows. They are slightly arched, and on the second and third storeys provided with plastered surrounds and ornaments. The mezzanine contains in the frieze of the drip moulding double square windows, framed by pilasters. The basement windows are provided with iron grilles.
In the projecting central axis the entrance is situated, consisting of double panelled doors with two round windows, and a round arch fanlight. The entrance is surrounded by a natural stone surround with leaf ornaments in the spandrels and with egg and bead mouldings all around. Above this is a balcony with cast-iron balustrade of acanthus leaves and hunting figures, resting on carved volute corbels with lion heads. The ornamentation of the balustrade is also applied below the two windows either side of the balcony. The balcony doors are framed by double Corinthian pilasters and a slightly arched cornice. The casement window above is provided with a plastered volute surround. The facade is finished with a drip moulding on corbels, a small tooth moulding and rectangular panels in the frieze; the central axis is crowned by a segmental pediment, with an oculus within.
The rear and side facades are plastered with incised grooves and finished with an identical drip moulding as the front facade. The side facade contains six window axes, partly executed as blind niches. The central axis is slightly projected. The drip moulding between first and second storey is provided with a Vitruvian scroll.
Access to the basement is provided by a double panelled door with cast-iron grilles, situated under a canopy. The two-axis-wide right section of the rear facade is built out as a risalit, with a narrow projecting shaft in the middle. On the first storey a conservatory spans the full width, resting on plastered pillars. Beneath it is the basement.
Evaluation
Townhouse of architectural-historical importance as a valuable example of the rich eclectic architectural style from the third quarter of the 19th century and due to the well-preserved main form, detailing and the material used.
