Tot het complex Schuddegeest behorend blok van 18 rug-aan-rug gebouwde woonhuizen op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit begane grond en lage verdieping onder een flauw hellend zadeldak.
De gevels zijn van baksteen met gepleisterde plint en ieder twee assen breed. Aan een kant worden de gevels van het blok gemarkeerd door een gepleisterde hoekliseen. Een van de zijgevels is gepleisterd.
De deuren zijn voorzien van bovenlichten met middenstijlen. Bij de noordgevel zijn de originele strokendeuren bewaard gebleven.
De vensters bestaan op de begane grond uit achtruits stolpramen en op de verdieping uit vierruits draairamen. Op de scheiding van de woningen bevinden zich kleine vensters met middenstijl ter verlichting van de paarsgewijs geplaatste wc's. De zijgevels bevatten op de verdieping ieder een zesruits stolpraam.
Deuren en vensters worden bekroond door flauw getoogde strekken van gele baksteen. De gevels worden afgesloten door geprofileerde houten gootlijsten die aan weerszijden bij de zijgevels uitsteken en rusten op geprofileerde sleutelstukken. De begane grond bevat per woning een kamer. De woningen aan de noordgevel bezitten elk een eigen tuintje, aan de andere zijde ziet een gedeelte van de woningen uit op het gemeenschappelijke plantsoen.
Waardering
Woningblok van sociaal-historisch, typologisch en architectuurhistorisch belang als een der eerste voorbeelden van sociale woningbouw zonder speculatieve doeleinden en als functioneel onderdeel van het complex arbeiderswoningen aan Schuddegeest/Mallemolen. Description
Block belonging to the Schuddegeest complex of 18 back-to-back dwellings on a rectangular plan, consisting of ground floor and low storey under a gently sloping gabled roof.
The facades are of brick with rendered plinth and each two axes wide. On one side the facades of the block are marked by a rendered corner pilaster. One of the side gables is rendered.
The doors are fitted with fanlights with central mullions. On the north facade the original panelled doors have been preserved.
The windows on the ground floor consist of eight-light sash windows and on the storey of four-light casement windows. At the division of the dwellings are small windows with central mullion for lighting the toilets placed in pairs. The side gables contain on the storey each a six-light sash window.
Doors and windows are crowned by shallow arched bands of yellow brick. The facades are finished with moulded wooden gutter lines which project on both sides at the side gables and rest on moulded keystones. The ground floor contains one room per dwelling. The dwellings on the north facade each have their own small garden, on the other side a part of the dwellings overlooks the shared green space.
Valuation
Housing block of social-historical, typological and architectural-historical significance as one of the first examples of social housing without speculative purposes and as a functional part of the complex of workers' dwellings at Schuddegeest/Mallemolen. Main form, detailing and material are well preserved.
