Inleiding
Herenhuis uit 1871-1872, gebouwd door de architect- grondspeculant J.H. van Sluijters in eclectische bouwstijl. Het pand vormt het middelste deel van een symmetrische groep van drie herenhuizen aan de Laan Copes van Cattenburch 123, 125 en 127.
Omschrijving
Herenhuis op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit een souterrain en twee bouwlagen onder een dwars afgeknot schilddak, vier vensterassen breed. De voorgevel is van baksteen, met een gepleisterde zone tussen de eerste en tweede bouwlaag, bestaande uit een geprofileerde waterlijst en een hoog fries, waarin blinde balustrades van de verdiepingsvensters zijn uitgespaard. De gevel wordt aan weerszijden afgesloten door geblokte lisenen. Tegen het souterrain is een hardstenen bossering aangebracht. De twee middelste vensterassen zijn als risaliet behandeld en voorzien van geblokt pleisterwerk. Het souterrain bevat twee getoogde tweelichtvensters met sluitstenen en smeedijzeren traliewerk, en een ingang die via een hardstenen trap toegang biedt tot het souterrain. De hoofdingang is in het risaliet gesitueerd en bestaat uit een hoge paneeldeur met glas-in-lood bovenlicht. De deur is voorzien van rijk snijwerk in neo- Lodewijk XVI stijl, smeedijzeren traliewerk en koperen knoppen. Boven de deur is over de volle breedte van het risaliet een balkon gesitueerd met een smeedijzeren hekwerk tussen balusters.
Op de eerste en tweede bouwlaag bevinden zich stolpramen met glas-in-lood bovenlichten en een geprofileerde gepleisterde omlijsting met geornamenteerde sluitstenen. Op de eerste bouwlaag bezitten zij een uitspringende hardstenen vensterbank op gebeeldhouwde consoles en een smeedijzeren raamhekje, en is de omlijsting geblokt met omgezette hoekjes aan de bovenzijde; op de tweede bouwlaag zijn de vensters getoogd.
Het hoofdgestel is gekornist en bestaat uit een gepleisterd fries en een geprofileerde kroonlijst; boven het risalietdeel rust de kroonlijst op houten klossen. Boven de kroonlijst is een attiekvormige bakstenen dakkapel over de volle breedte van het huis, waarin het risaliet doorloopt. De dakkapel is voorzien van stolpramen met smeedijzeren raamhekjes (op het linkervenster na) en wordt aan weerszijden afgesloten door pilasters met Ionische kapitelen.
De achtergevel is gepleisterd en uitgebouwd over de eerste en tweede bouwlaag. De vensters van de eerste bouwlaag bezitten glas-in-lood bovenlichten.

Description
Gentleman's house on rectangular plan, consisting of a basement and two storeys under a transverse truncated hip roof, four window bays wide. The front facade is of brick, with a rendered zone between the first and second storey, consisting of a profiled drip moulding and a high frieze, in which blind balustrades of the first-floor windows are recessed. The facade is closed on either side by blocked pilaster strips. Against the basement is a hardstone rustication applied. The two central window bays are treated as a risalit and provided with blocked render. The basement contains two arched two-light windows with keystones and wrought iron grilles, and an entrance which provides access to the basement via a hardstone stair. The main entrance is situated in the risalit and consists of a high panelled door with leaded fanlight. The door is provided with rich carving in neo-Louis XVI style, wrought iron grilles and copper knobs. Above the door is a balcony situated over the full width of the risalit with wrought iron railings between balusters.
On the first and second storeys are sash windows with leaded fanlights and a profiled rendered surround with ornamented keystones. On the first storey they have a projecting hardstone windowsill on carved consoles and a wrought iron window grille, and the surround is blocked with reversed corners at the top; on the second storey the windows are arched.
The entablature is corniced and consists of a rendered frieze and a profiled cornice; above the risalit section the cornice rests on wooden blocks. Above the cornice is an attic-like brick roof dormer over the full width of the house, in which the risalit continues. The roof dormer is provided with sash windows with wrought iron window grilles (except on the left window) and is closed on either side by pilasters with Ionic capitals.
The rear facade is rendered and extended over the first and second storeys. The windows of the first storey have leaded fanlights.
