Inleiding
Herenhuis uit 1882, gebouwd in opdracht van Frederik Willem Pedro Clignett, suikercontractant, door timmerman J. Steffens en metselaar M.F. Wijnekers in eclectische bouwstijl. Het huis maakt onderdeel uit van een serie van drie in dezelfde vormgeving aan Koninginnegracht 61 (thans ongenummerd), 62 en 63. Het ongenummerde pand is als kantoor bij nummer 62 getrokken.
Omschrijving
Herenhuis op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit drie bouwlagen en een mezzanino onder een dwars zinken roevendak, vier vensterassen breed.
De voorgevel is van baksteen, met een hardstenen plint, en gepleisterde eerste bouwlaag, risaliet, mezzanino en vensteromlijstingen. Tegen de eerste bouwlaag is een gebosseerde bepleistering met rustica aangebracht. Eerste en tweede bouwlaag worden van elkaar gescheiden door een geprofileerde waterlijst, en een hoog gepleisterd met guirlandes en rozetten geornamenteerd fries dat de verdiepingvensters onderling verbindt.
De tweede as van links is als risaliet behandeld. Hierin is de ingang gesitueerd, bestaande uit een paneeldeur met geprofileerd lijstwerk. Boven de deur bevindt zich een erker, voorzien van een blinde balustrade, gecanneleerde pilasters met corintische kapitelen, die een gedecoreerd hoofdgestel dragen, en ramen met glas-in-lood bovenlichten. De erker rust op rijk gesneden voluutconsoles met dierfiguren. Boven de erker is een balkon met balusterbalustrade. Het T-kozijn met glas-in-lood bovenlicht op de derde bouwlaag is voorzien van een omlijsting met gecanneleerde pilasters met corintische kapitelen die een hoofdgestel met geornamenteerd fries en eierlijstje dragen. Hierboven is een gebroken driehoekig fronton, bekroond door een met strikken versierd oculus.
Voor het overige bezit de gevel op de eerste en tweede bouwlaag schuifvensters met glas-in-lood bovenlichten; op de eerste bouwlaag rustend op hardstenen consoles en op de tweede bouwlaag voorzien van een geprofileerde omlijsting met sluitsteen met kopje en een kroonlijst met siervaas (de linkervaas is afgebroken). De schuifvensters op de derde bouwlaag, deels met glas-in-lood bovenlichten, bezitten eveneens een geprofileerde omlijsting met sluitsteen met kopje, een rechte kroonlijst met siervaas, en onder de vensterbank een blinde balustrade op consoles, waartussen cartouches en rozetten. De gepleisterde mezzanino bezit liggende vensters, waartussen versierde panelen met rustica. De gekorniste kroonlijst bezit een tandlijstje en rust op kleine bladconsoles.
De achtergevel is vernieuwd.

Description
Mansion on rectangular plan, consisting of three storeys and a mezzanine under a transverse zinc roevendak, four window bays wide.
The front façade is of brick, with a stone plinth, and plastered first storey, risalit, mezzanine and window surrounds. Against the first storey rusticated plasterwork with rustica has been applied. First and second storey are separated from each other by a profiled drip moulding, and a tall plastered frieze ornamented with garlands and rosettes which links the storey windows together.
The second axis from the left is treated as a risalit. The entrance is situated in it, consisting of a panelled door with profiled moulding. Above the door is a bay window, provided with a blind balustrade, fluted pilasters with Corinthian capitals, which carry a decorated entablature, and windows with leaded light fanlights. The bay window rests on richly carved scroll consoles with animal figures. Above the bay window is a balcony with baluster balustrade. The cross window with leaded light fanlight on the third storey is provided with a surround with fluted pilasters with Corinthian capitals which carry an entablature with ornamented frieze and egg moulding. Above this is a broken triangular pediment, crowned by an oculus decorated with ribbons.
Otherwise the façade has on the first and second storey sash windows with leaded light fanlights; on the first storey resting on stone consoles and on the second storey provided with a profiled surround with keystone with head and a cornice with ornamental vase (the left vase is broken off). The sash windows on the third storey, partly with leaded light fanlights, likewise have a profiled surround with keystone with head, a straight cornice with ornamental vase, and under the window sill a blind balustrade on consoles, between which cartouches and rosettes. The plastered mezzanine has horizontal windows, between which decorated panels with rustica. The corniced cornice has a dentil moulding and rests on small leaf consoles.
The back façade has been renewed.

Mansion of architectural-historical importance as a representative example of a residential building in eclectic architectural style. Main form, detailing and material are well preserved. As part of a series of mansions of the same design, the property also has ensemble value. The visually defining location on the Koninginnegracht adds further value.
