Inleiding
Herenhuis uit 1888-1889, gebouwd door de aannemers G. van der Vliet en J.F. van der Vliet in eclectische bouwstijl. Het herenhuis vormt een symmetrische eenheid met het belendende pand Bankastraat 116. Tevens vormt het onderdeel van een lange reeks identieke herenhuizen, opklimmend tegen de helling van de Bankastraat in de richting van de Kerkhoflaan.
Omschrijving
Herenhuis op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit een souterrain en drie bouwlagen onder een plat dak. De bouwlagen worden van elkaar gescheiden door geprofileerde, gepleisterde cordonlijsten. De bakstenen lijstgevel bezit een hardstenen plint en gepleisterde banden. Het souterrain is voorzien van een geblokte bepleistering met rustica-effect. De gevel is drie vensterassen breed, waarvan de linker als risaliet is behandeld.
Het risaliet vormt het twee assen brede middendeel van de beide als eenheid ontworpen huizen. De ingangspartij is in het risaliet geplaatst, bestaande uit een dubbele deur uit een latere periode, uitgevoerd in een historiserende stijl. De deuren onderbreken de oorspronkelijke omlijsting die wordt gevormd door pilasters met verdiepte velden en een gekorniste kroonlijst op paarsgewijs geplaatste triglyfconsoles. Boven de deuren bevindt zich het oorspronkelijke deurkalf met diamantkopjes en een bovenlicht met middenstijl. De deuren zijn bereikbaar via een hardstenen trapje met roosters.
Op de eerste en tweede bouwlaag bevinden zich schuifvensters en op de derde stolpramen, alle voorzien van een geprofileerde,gepleisterde omlijsting. De vensters op de eerste bouwlaag bezitten glas-in-lood bovenlichten en op de tweede bouwlaag T-kozijnen. De gekoppelde souterrainvensters zijn voorzien van gietijzeren roosters. Voor de stolpramen zijn gietijzeren raamhekjes geplaatst. Het gekorniste hoofdgestel heeft een gepleisterd fries met rechthoekige panelen en een tandlijstje. De kroonlijst wordt gedragen door paarsgewijs geplaatste triglyfconsoles.
Waardering
Herenhuis van architectuurhistorisch en cultuurhistorisch belang als representatief voorbeeld van 19e-eeuwse eclectische woonhuisarchitectuur. Als onderdeel van een uniforme gevelwand heeft het pand tevens ensemblewaarde.

The townhouse forms a symmetrical unit with the adjoining property at Bankastraat 116. It also forms part of a long series of identical townhouses, rising up against the slope of Bankastraat in the direction of Kerkhoflaan.
Description
Townhouse on a rectangular plan, consisting of a basement and three storeys beneath a flat roof. The storeys are separated from each other by profiled, plastered cordon mouldings. The brick cornice-topped facade features a hardstone plinth and plastered bands. The basement is provided with rusticated ashlar-effect rendering. The facade is three window bays wide, of which the left bay is treated as a risalit.
The risalit forms the two-bay-wide central section of the two houses designed as a unit. The entrance composition is placed in the risalit, consisting of a double door from a later period, executed in a historicising style. The doors interrupt the original surround which is formed by pilasters with recessed panels and a corniced cornice on triglyph consoles placed in pairs. Above the doors is the original door transom with diamond-pattern studs and a fanlight with central muntin. The doors are accessed via a hardstone step with grilles.
On the first and second storeys there are sash windows and on the third storey casement windows, all provided with a profiled, plastered surround. The windows on the first storey have leaded glass fanlights and on the second storey cross windows. The coupled basement windows are fitted with cast-iron grilles. Cast-iron window guards are placed in front of the casement windows. The corniced main entablature has a plastered frieze with rectangular panels and a dentil moulding. The cornice is supported by triglyph consoles placed in pairs.

Townhouse of architectural-historical and cultural-historical significance as a representative example of 19th-century eclectic residential architecture. As part of a uniform facade row, the property also has ensemble value.
