De 'Villa Aschwing' is een in 1877 in een eclectische stijl gebouwd WOONHUIS. De grote, vrijstaande villa werd gebouwd in opdracht van Johannes Jacobus Bolman en is vervolgens bewoond geweest door diverse Asser notabelen, voordat zij in de oorlogsjaren het onderkomen van de Duitse Wehrmacht werd. Het huis, dat met de meest representatieve, westelijke gevel op de hertenkamp is georienteerd, is een van de waardevolle, negentiende eeuwse en vroeg twintigste eeuwse, voor de gegoede Asser burgerij gebouwde huizen in de "'paleizenbuurt". De tuin wordt aan wegzijde begrensd door een eenvoudig tweede helft 19e-eeuws ijzeren hekwerk.

Het vanuit een kruisvormige plattegrond opgetrokken huis heeft een hoog souterrain, twee bouwlagen en een hoger opgaande middenpartij met mezzanino onder schilddaken. De gevels zijn voorzien van een gepleisterde plint, twee cordonlijsten, entablementen met uitkragende kroonlijsten en getoogde venster met afgeschuinde dagkanten, sluitstenen in alle en aanzetstenen in de meeste vensterbogen. De gevel aan Hertenkampzijde is symmetrisch met een risalerende, hoog opgaande, vijfzijdige middenpartij. Dit avant-corps is op de bel-etage voorzien van een op vier consoles rustend balkon met hekken van smeed- en gietijzer tussen gecanneleerde houten hoekbalusters. Het entablement draagt de naam van de villa en is voorzien van casementen, een tandlijst en een geprofileerde kroonlijst. Hierboven bevindt zich een mezzanino met drie liggende vensters en een entablement met kroonlijst op klampen. Tegen de rechter zijgevel staat op souterrainniveau een in baksteen opgetrokken uitbouw met rechtgesloten vensters, waarop een houten serre staat met rechthoekige pilasters en een kroonlijst voor het plat waarop een porte brisée uitkomt. De achtergevel bezit eveneens een risalerende middenpartij. De terugliggende gevelpartijen zijn blind. De sterk risalerende, drie traveeën brede voorsprong heeft een hoge, elf treden tellende hardstenen trap met smeedijzeren trapleuningen, die voert naar een portiek, met een boven een zware hardstenen drempel staande vleugeldeur met twee stolpnaalden, een kalf met gebogen frontonnetje en een getoogd bovenlicht. Aan weerszijden van de trap is een hardstenen plaat aan de gevel bevestigd. The 'Villa Aschwing' is a DWELLING HOUSE built in 1877 in an eclectic style. The strongly projecting, three bays wide projection has a high hardstone staircase counting eleven steps with wrought iron stair railings, which leads to a portico with a folding door standing above a heavy hardstone threshold with two door pins, a decorative element with curved pediment and an arched fanlight. On either side of the staircase a hardstone panel is affixed to the facade. To the left of this facade section, which is provided with a mansard roof, stands a low, flat extension which stylistically does not match the house and is not under protection.
